11 Platform Cooperatives Creating a Real Sharing Economy As "death star platforms" such as Airbnb and Uber continue their pursuit of global domination, an alternative is rising in its wake. Platform cooperatives, which share the value they create with the users they depend on, are on the rise. As Shareable co-founder Neal Gorenflo writes in How Platform Co-ops Can Beat Death Stars Like Uber to Create a Real Sharing Economy, "Platform coops combine a cooperative business structure with an online platform to deliver a real-world service." Gorenflo asks, "What if Uber was owned and governed by its drivers? 1. Fairmondo is a digital, co-operative version of eBay, where sellers on the platform are also its owners. To scale globally, the Fairmondo team plans to create an international network of country-based co-ops feeding into the Fairmondo platform. 2.

Online Learning Platforms |Building apps like Coursera - Elearning platform Education has been the single biggest driver of growth, development, and innovation around the world. Formal education was highly sought after since ancient times and was at that time reserved for the wealthy or the powerful. The ancient world had many notable institutions of higher learning, some of which include: The Platonic Academy (Founded ca. 387 BC) The Peripatetic School (Founded ca. 335 BC) Pushpagiri (Founded ca. 3rd Century AD) Nalanda (Founded ca. 5th Century AD) Taehak (Founded ca. 370 AD) Gondishapur (Founded ca. 3rd Century AD) These universities or academies were centers of excellence, founded by great thinkers and philosophers who wanted their research and ideas to be propagated and research to be the building block of civilization. Although most of these universities do not exist in their original form, but the seed they sowed built the foundation on which great centers of learning are being built today.
