As a man who was handed a magical sword by a lady in a lake before picking up the Holy Grail, itâs fair to say King Arthur has been associated with a few tall stories. However, now Croatia tourism bosses are suggesting she was born in Igrane, now a popular beach destination. âThe legend says Igraynne was from here and bathed at the beach, so thatâs how the place got the name,â said mayor Emil Talijancic. The country has already claimed Arthur was really Roman general Lucius Artorius Castus, who may have been buried in the southern Croatian village of Podstrana. Croatia will, however, have a battle royal trying to wrest the late fifth and early sixth century king, his Knights of the Round Table, Camelot and the wizard Merlin from Britain.
