I've had requests for some sort of expressions tutorial dating back a while now, so I figured, "Sure! I can explain expression drawing...and it'll be way better than all those tutorials out there that are nothing but charts of generic expressions. Yeah! Just give me a day or two to whip something up..." Um. Anyway, I found all I could really do was try to explain ways to teach yourself...and then add some pictures.

A Brief Narrative Bio Steve Lambert’s father, a former Franciscan monk, and mother, an ex-Dominican nun, imbued the values of dedication, study, poverty, and service to others – qualities which prepared him for life as an artist. Lambert made international news after the 2008 US election with The New York Times “Special Edition,” a replica of the “paper of record” announcing the end of the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan and other good news. Steve’s projects and art works have won awards from Prix Ars Electronica, Rhizome/The New Museum, the Creative Work Fund, Adbusters Media Foundation, the California Arts Council, and others. Labels: creatures, robots Shulamith Koenig - Exhibition of Sculptures at NYC's ET Modern Posted by Ray | 1 Jun 2011 | Comments (0) Shulamith Koenig is perhaps best known for her activism as the founding president of PDHRE, the People's Movement for Human Rights Learning (formerly known as the People's Decade for Human Rights Education), which she founded in 1989. Yet at some point between her two-decade career as an industrial engineer (with a focus on water conservation) and her ongoing human rights activism, Koenig found time to create a fascinating (and largely overlooked, if Google is any indication) body of work as a sculptor. Aesthetically, the work falls somewhere between David Smith and Louise Nevelson—the reference points are perhaps inescapable, insofar as Koenig assembles largely abstract forms out of found objects—but there is another, less obvious meaning to her sculptural forms. In 1982, in an old farm in upstate New York, Shulamith Koenig found a trove of foundry wooden patterns and molds, hand carved by artists over a century ago.

In 1912 the city of Tokyo, Japan, gave Washington, D.C., a beautiful gift of 3,000 cherry blossom trees. This year celebrates the 100th anniversary of that gift. Make cherry blossom artwork with a recycled 2-liter soda bottle as a stamp! Here are the detailed instructions. Start by using dark paint to paint a branch on poster board. I cut this piece of poster board in half lengthwise because I want it to look more like an art panel than a poster. Once the branch is painted, let it dry before continuing with the stamping. Now let’s do the stamping. The bottom of 2-liter soda bottle has five points like the five petals of a cherry blossom. Press the plastic bottle on the poster board, then lift up.
