Sea of Shoes: HAIR HOW-TO I am sometimes asked how I style my hair, and while my method is far from perfect, I thought I'd show you how! My hair is pretty straight and fine naturally and I always let it air dry. Since I go about three days between washes, I like to curl it on the first day and let it mellow out into some nice waves over the next two. Let's get started! If your hair doesn't hold curl very well then you may want to put a palmful of curling mousse in it when it is halfway dry. (though I want to upgrade to one of the fancy new ones from Sultra soon!) When I'm done curling the bottom section, I mist it with Bumble and bumble Spray de Mode and comb through the curl with my fingers. Ahh!! If you want to dress it up a little, you can do a braided headband look! Find a spot on the opposite side of your head and pin it so that it blends in naturally with the rest of your hairstyle. Well, that's it!

manic[ure] monday: “something borrowed” « A Pretty Penny Last night I suffered through watched Something Borrowed on DVD. I heard all the terrible reviews, but being the big Kate Hudson fan I am, I thought I needed to see it for myself. Unfortunately, I can’t get those two hours back, but I did spot a cute mani on Kate in one scene. It was a modern french manicure with a beige base, black tips, and a little bit of gold. Cue the lineup! Start with clean nails and a thin coat of base. Next, apply two coats of beige polish to the entire nail. After the beige polish is bone dry, apply french manicure strips to each nail. More drying time! Adding the gold line is the trickiest part. I sealed everything up with two good coats of the all-in-one base (which actually helped mask some of the imperfections). Like this: Like Loading...
