MySQL.com Compromised & Spreading Malware The latest story doing the rounds is that MySQL.com got hacked and was serving malware which put it on the Google malware block list. It appears to be in the clear now though and it’s accessible again via Google. It seems to be a similar case with that of the recent Linux.com and Kernel.org hacks – in which the sites were compromised via developers who had access. In this case it seems MySQL.com was compromised by malware that spreads itself via FTP from client machines, it then uploads malicious JavaScript to any sites the client machine has access to and propagates malware using those sites. Hackers recently compromised the website hosting the open-source MySQL database management system and caused it to infect the PCs of visitors who used unpatched browsers and plug-ins, security researchers said.MySQL.com was infected with mwjs159, website malware that often spreads when compromised machines are used to access restricted FTP clients, a blog post from Sucuri Security reported.

DIY: Outdoor Wireless Access Point/Signal Repeater - MAVROMATIC In my previous post, I went over how I created a weatherproof Wi-Fi camera rig. I decided to write a separate entry about how I got Wi-Fi signal to the camera during the construction process of my new home. I hope this post gives you some ideas as how to easily setup an access point outside your home. Lets begin. The Parts List: - A HyperLink 8db Compact Omnidirectional 2.4ghz Antenna or a HyperLink 8db Patch Antenna - 2 Linksys WAP11 You’ll need to find an enclosure that will fit your access point. And Beyond… ha.ckers.org web application security lab Here we are, my friends. The 1000th post. Whew! It wasn’t that long ago that I unfortunately lost my love affair with security. I started ha.ckers.org as a place for me to experiment on my own, and share ideas with a few like-minded folks. With any kind of work you get a sense of anxiety. They say that if you look at the graph of happiness in your life you can tell what sort of life you led. I’m not an oracle and I really don’t like giving people incorrect information. Although I’m a fun loving person in many ways I also tend to be a pessimist and I do take things too seriously sometimes - definitely to a fault. So this is it - I’m taking my happiness back and I’ll be taking on new and exciting challenges without the drama of intense public scrutiny. I could also spend pages iterating all the people who’ve helped me think through the countless issues we’ve talked about, sent in ideas and generally made this website and WebAppSec in general a success.
