Fancy Bloomers, African Violets Tipi Dakota-Sioux: Tipi (or Tepee) - ti to house, pi to use to The tipi is a beautiful shaped living room, like a cathedral does it rise in the center, the round circle-like floor shape, a sacred space by itself. It is also easy to transport, put up and build; base of nomadic living. The tipi stands almost as a symbol of native american culture, and it seems unique to the north american continent. The simplicity is obvious, and with poles, a single piece of canvas (plus door cover) and ropes, you build a tipi. The smoke flaps and the interior inlining make it a habitat with an open fire in the middle, but it must be admited to use it in winter-time, it seems less suitable, as the smoke leaves through the roof and junction of the poles, and so the heat, not very optimal or efficient despite of possible fur used to insulate the interior. The tipi is amazing simple, a set of straight poles and one canvas with an optional inlining; to errect and take down a tipi is simple. Hood / Bull Boat Ozan

There Are Fairies Living In The&Garden - Home - Burgh Baby One of my 153205325 ongoing projects was FINALLY completed this past weekend. Alexis' fairy garden. The idea originated when we were at Disney World two years ago. There is a Tinkerbell-themed garden area that makes an appearance during the Flower Show, and it features tons and tons of fairy houses. Alexis saw the fairy houses and declared that she wanted one. SO BAD. I already had the big metal container that the fairy garden lives in. The house is just a plain old wood birdhouse I picked up at JoAnn's. There's a path made out of rocks, tiny little fencing we found at JoAnns, a clothesline for the fairy clothes, a seashell pond, and even a tiny bench holding an even tinier watering can. It's all stuff that we've found at random places in the past two years. The "grass" is Irish Moss that I found at Lowe's. Thanks to the wind moving things a bit and a bird dropping a feather by the seashell pond, Alexis is convinced that fairies really have visited her fairy garden.

DIY Succulent Pallet Table | Far Out Flora Max with the new Succulent Table. Can you believe that our latest DIY project was once just a couple of junky pallets and some scrappy table legs? Crazy…if I didn’t have photos, I wouldn’t believe it myself. Not too long ago, we whipped out a coffee table sized succulent table out of an old shipping crate. Now we scaled it up. The pallets. First bit of advice, deconstructing pallets are a big pain unless you have the right tools…and our hammer and wall scrapper wasn’t quite doing the trick. Couple good planks. Love the scares of time left on these chunks of pallet wood. Attaching the legs. After pulling apart two pallets, we used the 2 x 4 sized boards to make a rectangular frame to attached the appropriated table legs. Dry run for fittings. Like TV magic (and 2 days later), the table was more or less put together. Megan with some semps. After a weekend of slivers and sweat, we finally got to plant this baby. Getting messy. Packing them in. Yeah, we didn’t hold back on jamming them.

Bay State African Violet Society By Susan Gimblet Welcome to Basic Essentials. This column is the first in a series designed to help each of us, as growers, maximize the essential elements for producing beautiful African violets. Whether we are growing a violet just for our own enjoyment or planning to 'Grow to Show', taking a look at the individual components is always a good idea. We have all probably heard laments about how difficult it is to grow African violets; "it won't bloom," "my violets always die," "I watered too much/too little," and so forth. In reality, African violets are very adaptable to most environments, which have made them one of the most popular house plants. Having said all that, there are several basic essentials that are needed to produce a beautiful African violet, but there are variables based on individual conditions. Let's start with a discussion of potting mixes, pots and potting techniques. Potting Mix There are many different brands of soilless mix and many different recipes.

Saturdays Are Fun: Fairy Garden Inspiration | Studio Tangie Julie Ann Shahin, Social Media Team Today’s installment of “Saturdays Are Fun” is inspired by my own mother! She is a life-long believer in fairies, perhaps it’s due to her Irish heritage and belief in Irish fairies. I was looking for garden ideas on Pinterest when I stumbled upon this photo of a fairy door. I immediately thought of my mother, and sent this idea to her. Then I saw another fairy garden, and realized that these photos would make great inspiration to share with you all. Here is my layout: Fairy Home by Julie Ann Shahin I wanted to make a fairy door in a tree, and loved the butterflies in Tangie’s kit My Fairy Friends 4. My African Violet Tool Box   You are welcome to borrow anything you might find useful Wicks Yogurt cups, cottage cheese containers, etc., make excellent reservoirs for wick watering. Simply make two holes of different sizes in the lid--one for inserting the wick and the other for adding water as needed. Yes, I know that I just said that the fumes from melting plastic can be harmful; yet I use a soldering gun to cut my nylon wicks. I use an inexpensive 1 1/2 inch synthetic bristled paint brush to clean potting material off leaves when I repot. Happy Growing! Frank G. Thank you Frank for sharing with us.

Le blog du chantier participatif organisé par ADOBES à la Ferme de Découverte The Only Shrubs You Need to Grow 1. An extraordinary hydrangea I love all hydrangeas, but oakleaf hydrangea is one of my favorites because its large leaves look great on their own and in combination with other plants. Large, oakleaf-shaped leaves contrast well with smaller-leaved plants, but it’s the white flowers on large panicles, which change to pink as they age, that makes ‘Snowflake’ oakleaf hydrangea a winner. Its blooms are double, hose-in-hose, which means that, as the new white petals come out of the middle of the flower, the older petals hold on and fade to pink, producing complexity and depth to the flower. The show continues through fall, as the foliage turns red, attaining deeper hues on plants located in full sun. • Name: ‘Snowflake’ oakleaf hydrangea (Hydrangea quercifolia ‘Snowflake’)• Zones: 5 to 9• Conditions: Full sun to partial shade; moist, fertile, well-drained soil• Seasonal bonus: In summer, the white blooms turn to pink. ‘Snowflake’ oakleaf hydrangea Photo/Illustration: Don Garren
