app-inventor-releases - Source code releases of App Inventor Google and MIT are pleased to announce the initial free and open-source release from Google of the App Inventor source code There's currently little supporting documentation yet, and we’re not accepting contributions to the code right now. That will happen later, after the MIT Center for Mobile Learning opens their App Inventor server to the public. We hope to nurture a robust and active open-source project eventually, but for now we don't want to distract the MIT developers from their efforts to complete and deploy the large-scale public server. In the meantime, we’ll update the code periodically to match what’s running at the latest MIT experimental system. People who create modifications from this code base are free to use the term “App Inventor” and the puzzle-piece Android logo in their work. Please note that at the current time, the App Inventor build server (part of this code release) only works on Linux and Mac operating systems. Enjoy the code, and Happy Inventing!

Git Print Friendly & PDF HTML code help, search engine optimization and web site maintenance tools by NetMechanic. by Larisa Thomason,Senior Web Analyst,NetMechanic, Inc. META tags sure aren't what they used to be. Just a few years ago, good META description and keyword tags were a ticket to success for many sites and many spammers. ROBOTS tag: Use this to invite search engine spiders into some parts of your site - and keep them out of others. META Tags For Promotion The previous tags help make your page display more reliably to international and visitors with disabilities. As recently as a few years ago, good META tags represented a quick trip to high search engine rankings and thousands of visitors. The spammers had learned how to divert traffic to their sites by disguising the real content and purpose of their sites with misleading META tag content. But wait! Using META Tags Effectively

15 Popular EdTech Tools Being Used Around The World During the past month, Katie and I have been working our tails off to make the upcoming September issue of the Edudemic Magazine for iPad (comes out tomorrow!) as helpful as possible to all teachers around the world. To do so, we spoke with teachers from, well, around the world. During those conversations, we discussed an array of topics, trends, tools, and whatever else popped up. One of the many things that struck me was that most of these admittedly ‘connected teachers’ use the same web tools and apps. So without further ado, these following 15 tools (in no particular order) are apparently some of the most popular tools being used by the teachers I spoke with from around the world. Schoology : Through this social site, teachers can manage lessons, engage students, share content, and connect with other educators.

Inkscape PDF to Word Converter — 100% Free Declarations Document type declarations At the very top of your web pages, you need a document declaration. That’s right, you need it. Without specifying a doctype, your HTML just isn’t valid HTML and most browsers viewing them will switch to ‘quirks mode’, which means they will think that you don’t know what the hell you’re doing and make up their own mind on what to do with your code. The document declaration for XHTML 1.0 Strict looks like this: The following is the document declaration for XHTML 1.1, which may seem preferable, being the latest version of XHTML, but there are a few problems, which will be explained in just a minute… If you just can’t let go of HTML 4 or if you’ve got some kind of Netscape 4 fetish, you can use XHTML 1.0 Transitional: The only reason you should use this is if you have an unusual need to accommodate older, rarely used browsers. Finally, if you’re one of those wacky people who use frames, the XHTML 1.0 Frameset document type declaration looks like this: Content types
