Super Simple Diy Ring | The Little Brown House. Tweet! When I say super simple I mean…. super simple… as in, I am almost embarrassed to do a tutorial on it Almost, but not quite! Maybe there are some of you out there like me that like things that look impressive but were actually easy.. I am a fairly recent convert to costume jewelry, but, as with every thing in my life, I jumped in with both feet. So when I discovered I could make my own I was very excited! I can be fickle in my tastes in colors and styles, and I feel alot less guilty about casting aside something that was only a couple of bucks to begin with. So – with that – here you go! I started with some buttons.. We will be ignoring the butterfly ones for now – they will be featured in an upcoming post. I pulled out my handy E6000 adhesive that I used on my first ring making experience The Secret Life Of A Crafting Blogger And one of the ring backs that I got from Ebay. ( please excuse the purple hands – I am firing the photographer as I type this..) Then pressed the button into the glue.

Souled Objects Seeing photographs of Souled Objects creative process makes me giddy with anticipation to see their fully loaded website (COMING SOON! or so they claim!) How very badly do you want to curl up like a cat in the sun on one of those rugs? It can’t just be me. Stuffed Fabric Turtles (with pattern pieces) We were shopping around, down in Florida, after we went to the zoo several weeks ago (yes, in Jacksonville…..some of you asked)……..and we stopped by a Pottery Barn Kids store. I’m a window shopper. I love walking around and daring myself to find something I want to make. Want to go shopping with me? I might drive you crazy. Then you and my husband will have something in common. While we were there…..we saw some cute little stuffed turtles. So I snapped a picture with my phone, and I decided to try and figure it out at home. So, here’s my version…..a bit different, but just as sweet. They are soft and plump and are perfect for little hands. …..and the tail may be my favorite part. After making one, you better let your turtle explore outside. Would you like to make your own? Turtle pattern pieces found here. Cut out all of your turtle pieces, in whatever fabric and color choices you want. (Also, you don’t want to use a stretchy fabric, or the turtle won’t hold its shape very well.) Now, that’s it.

DIY Chevron Necklace Last week Carly at Chic Steals posted her late summer Objects of Desire. I loved this Open Triangle Necklace from ASOS. Normally I wouldn’t DIY a necklace that could be purchased for less than $20, but I already had all of the materials and it only took a few minutes. Remember the nail polish ‘enamel’ necklace? This is the same idea except that I cut the chevron shape out of sheet metal using tin snips. Before painting on the nail polish I punch a hole in each end with a screw punch. I gave it a couple coats of nail polish and let it dry before using jump rings to attach a brass chain.

- Man tar to muffinsformer og kniper dem sammen.

Pebeo Porcelaine 150 Paint Markers Now it's easy to paint on ceramic, porcelain, glass, and metal with these markers from Pebeo. The round tips on Porcelaine 150 Paint Markers are perfect for writing, drawing, outlining, and highlighting, and they can be used in conjunction with Pebeo Porcelaine 150 Paints. Pebeo Porcelaine 150 Paint Markers work like other paint markers. Simply press down on the tip firmly, and "hold" until the paint begins to flow (pump gently to speed up the process). Since many vitreous and ceramic materials cannot withstand sudden changes in temperature, Pebeo recommends placing your painted piece in a oven and allowing it to warm up as the oven warms up. Avoid the use of strong, abrasive cleaners such as steel scouring pads and sharp cutting implements such as stainless steel knives, which may leave scratches on the surface and make it more difficult to clean. Pebeo Porcelaine 150 Paint Marker colors are transparent.

Craft DIY Projects, Patterns, How-tos, Fashion, Recipes @ Craftzine.com - Felting, Sewing, Knitting, Crocheting, Home & More Quilling, the coiling and shaping of narrow paper strips to create a design, has been around for years — hundreds, in fact. During the Renaissance, nuns and monks would roll gold-gilded paper remnants trimmed during the bookmaking process, and use them to decorate religious objects as an alternative to costly gold filigree. Quilling later became a pastime of 18th and 19th century young ladies in England, who would decorate tea caddies and pieces of furniture with paper filigree. In all of that time, the process has remained very much the same, but quilling designs and specialty supplies have definitely caught up to the 21st century. The short list of necessities includes strips of lightweight paper, glue, and a tool with which to roll the paper — that’s it! Many arts and crafts stores sell basic tools and packages of multicolor paper strips. Materials Directions When purchasing a tool there are 2 basic types: a slotted tool and needle tool. How to Make a Beautiful “Love” Necklace {Giveaway} I’m Kate from Cheap Crafty Mama and I’m so excited to be here to show you how to make this super cool Murano Glass Bead and Freshwater Pearl “Love” Necklace– How to Make a CUTE Necklace Here’s What You’ll Need… • thick silver (or silver-coated) wire • thin silver (or silver-coated) wire • silver chain- cut into 8″ and 6″ sections • 2 beads (I used a murano glass bead and freshwater pearl) • lobster clasp • pliers (round-tipped and needle-nosed) • wire clippers • jewelry hammer (or a hammer with a smooth face) • jewelry hammering block (or thick piece of metal to hammer on) To get started I used the round-tipped pliers to twist the thick wire to spell “love.” When I was done shaping it I hammered it with my jewelry hammer. Next, I made the bead pendants. Using the thin wire, I made a little loop around the tip of my pliers. I clipped off the extra wire from the end of the loop and then slipped the bead on the long part of the wire, then made another loop on the other side of the bead.

make your own 6-pocket mini pocketbook and stay organized — insatiable need I’m sure that many of you, like me, are on an eternal quest for organization. I know I’m not alone in finding the Container Store’s promise of a perfect, organized life utterly seductive. But here’s the thing…I don’t really like purging, I love my stuff. This tutorial is about helping you stay organized, in a quick, easy, and super-cute way. the pattern …is only four rectangles. the body is 7.25″ tall.the large pocket is 5.5″ tallthe medium pocket is 4.25″ tallthe small pocket is 3″ tall materials needed I chose a vintage cotton canvas for the body in a bright retro floral, and quilting weight cotton in a matching color for the interior. You’ll also need a button and a bit of elastic for the closure, and a bit of ribbon for the pen. I used two layers of mid-weight interfacing on the body to give it some heft. cutting your fabric You’ll be cutting the body in a single layer and the pockets on the fold. preparing your fabric The first step is ironing your fabrics. 2. the closure 3. 4. 6.

Anna Maria Horner Popsicle Stick Bracelets So I was looking through my vintage craft book collection and ran across a 1970 Pack O’ Fun magazine. They had instructions on how to take a simple popsicle stick and turn it into a bracelet. I’m always happy to try and take a good idea and run with it. Well, I’m certainly on board for that. The thought of being able to make wood pliable put all kinds of ideas in my head. Are you new to the Sitcom? For this project I used: Popsicle sticks (bought the industrial strength size bag from Walmart because this project might go in future directions)Drinking glass (for forming- use a glass with a top opening that is slightly smaller than you want your bracelet to end up)Emory board or sand paperAcrylic paintStick on jewels (for bling)Mod Podge The instructions in the magazine called for allowing the popsicle sticks to sit in water overnight. I found that I still had to work the wood, warming it with my fingers, to make it pliable enough to fit into the top of the glass without splitting.

Send a Box of Sunshine to brighten someone’s day Sometimes winter can seem really long when the skies are gray and its really cold. I know I can’t wait to enjoy some of that summer warmth again…I miss it! To show someone you are thinking of them or to brighten up their day consider giving them a Box of Sunshine! Basically you can take anything in the color yellow and add it to this box. Cut out a few paper sunbeams, print out a little note and you have a Box of Sunshine! The above picture is a box that my sister sent to me using items that she found at a specialty candy store, but I was thinking that it would be great to use items that I coupon shop for to make these boxes a little more thrifty priced! So each week when I am out couponing and saving money at the stores I remember to get items in yellow whenever possible. A Box of Sunshine would make a great neighbor gift, a birthday gift, or a gift for someone feeling a little blue. I have created a few FREE printables for you my dear readers.
