These Incredible Lamps Create Amazing Art On The Walls Around You A Polish artist who goes by the name Calabarte has made waves on the internet when he released these stunning images of his hand-made lamps. He carefully carves African gourds to create lamps that transform rooms into whimsical synchronized realms of light and magic. Unfortunately, he doesn't have any lamps for sale right now, but I'm sure the demand is high. L’artiste sera l’objet d’une exposition, au Musée National de Brasilia du 19 Avril au 5 juin 2016. 30 Artists, 1 Monkey, and An Incredible Collection of Illustrated Posters | Doodlers Anonymous Two years ago I posted about an independent International Film Festival in the South of Italy (called La Guarimba) and its collection of insanely awesome, illustrated, promotional movie posters featuring its monkey of a mascot. And here I am again to highlight this year's set of illustrations. Curated by illustrator Sara Fratini, this year's posters showcase incredible use of color, art, typography, layout, and design. I want to buy them all, frame them and hang them up at our studio. Get inspired and check out the posters below from artists like Mikel Murillo, Natalya Balnova, Jean Jullien, Stephanie Chaves, and 26 others. For a full list of artwork credit and images, visit the La Guarimba tumblr page and if you are looking to learn more about this project and its humble beginnings, I highly suggest watching the TEDx talk by Guilio Vita (one of the main founders), it will make you want to stop everything and pursue your dreams.

WWII and the Buddy System In the relatively innocent and emotionally charged days of the 1940s — long before the Kinsey Report detailed how many men were having same-sex sexual experiences — soldiers and sailors were encouraged to form close bonds with their fellow troops. They needed to trust and count on each other — their lives depended on it. Photographer Michael Stokes captured this all-male environment, and his work is compiled in My Buddy: World War II Laid Bare. Most of these young men were just entering manhood. Many came from landlocked states and small towns and farms. Cameras were rare, processing nude images even more difficult, so that Stoke's massive collection of more than 500 images of horseplay and fraternity is a treasure.
