I wore a more relaxed version of this hair style in an outfit post in June of 2009 but for reasons unbeknownst to me, I never did a tutorial for it. Recently though, a few of my lovely readers have asked for it …so here it is. Enjoy! Sea of Shoes: HAIR HOW-TO
I am sometimes asked how I style my hair, and while my method is far from perfect, I thought I'd show you how! My hair is pretty straight and fine naturally and I always let it air dry. Since I go about three days between washes, I like to curl it on the first day and let it mellow out into some nice waves over the next two. Let's get started! If your hair doesn't hold curl very well then you may want to put a palmful of curling mousse in it when it is halfway dry. (though I want to upgrade to one of the fancy new ones from Sultra soon!) When I'm done curling the bottom section, I mist it with Bumble and bumble Spray de Mode and comb through the curl with my fingers. Ahh!! If you want to dress it up a little, you can do a braided headband look! Find a spot on the opposite side of your head and pin it so that it blends in naturally with the rest of your hairstyle. Well, that's it!
DIY Flower Halo - Honestly WTF
You’ll start by cutting 2 circles from the piece of felt at approximately 2″ in diameter. Form the wires of your halo by molding and bending each piece into a half circle. Lay the two half circles opposite of each other to create a single circle, laying it over the top of your head to check the fit. Wrap floral tape over 2 sections of overlapping wire at 11 o’clock and 3 o’clock. Trim any overlapping pieces with the wire cutters. (Click images to enlarge) Using the wire cutters, cut the stem off the flower making sure the back is flat. The possibilities are endless with this as you can wrap flowers around half or the entire perimeter of the halo, reinforcing with glue. Your flower halo is ready to wear! (images by Honestly…WTF)
