how to save the world Nanotechnological innovations can improve water purification Research teams are trying different approaches within the nanotechnological field to improve water membrane technologies. One of these is to improve water purification by using nature’s own water-transporting channels, aquaporins. However, constructing suitable membranes for industrial processes is a challenge. Membranes for water purification are used in many applications and different types of membranes are being developed at the moment. In the European Commission-funded project MEMBAQ (Incorporation of Aquaporins in Membranes for Industrial Applications) researchers are taking advantage of a unique structure nature has already created, when they are developing a nanotechnological invention. The main challenge at the moment is to make membranes applicable to industrial processes. Another way of improving water purification through a nanotechnological approach has been developed by researchers at Stanford University. Creative and Environment-Friendly Packaging Designs It’s funny that a few years ago, people were all over the new packaging material, plastic. The consumers thought this is the wonder material, the material that’s great for the environment. It’s cheap to produce, easy to work with, and it doesn’t hurt any trees! It was during the time where trees were being cut down indiscriminately; so people were happy that plastic was used for packaging and not paper in order to save the trees. Plastic was believed to be the material that can save Mother Earth. Fast forward years later and we see the immense effects of using plastic. We’ve probably heard of environment-friendly packaging design in the packaging industry. I admire creative and environmentally friendly packaging. Terretv - La télé web des générations futures The EnviroLink Network Environmental News Network -- Know Your Environment Ecosystem services Humankind benefits in a multitude of ways from ecosystems. Collectively, these benefits are known as ecosystem services. Ecosystem services are regularly involved in the provisioning of clean drinking water and the decomposition of wastes. §History[edit] The notion of human dependence on Earth’s ecosystems reaches to the start of homo sapiens’ existence, benefiting from the products of nature to nourish and shelter from harsh climates. In 1956, Paul Sears [7] drew attention to the critical role of the ecosystem in processing wastes and recycling nutrients. The ecosystem services concept keeps expanding and includes socio-economic and conservation objectives, which are discussed below. §Definition[edit] There is discussion as to how the concept of cultural ecosystem services can be operationalized. §Four categories[edit] Detritivores like this dung beetle help to turn animal wastes into organic material that can be reused by primary producers. §Supporting services[edit] §Examples[edit]

I would rather suggest why limit high speed rail transit to such a limited area as a state. Why not bring the entire nation to the fore front of technology. Lets begin rebuilding Our Nations infrastructure, The way it began with the rail system. by richardsleeth Jun 11
