Hunger Games Trailer (No. 1 I Remember "The Hunger Games" Viral Campaign Heats Up Lionsgate has just rolled out the second phase in its new viral campaign for the upcoming film, The Hunger Games. The studio launched the first teaser trailer for the film — which is based on a trilogy of books — at the MTV VMAs on Sunday. At the end of the trailer was a hashtag: #whatsmydistrict. This hashtag led intrepid Twitter users on a chase to find a hidden website. Twitter user @@TheCapitolPN responded to users on Twitter and the website, thecapitol.pn was eventually revealed. Over the last few days, that site has shown a fading image that has become more and more clear. That stage starts now. Viral campaigns for movies are nothing new, but we're impressed with the intricate lengths Lionsgate is going to promote this title. The Hunger Games doesn't hit theaters until March 23, 2012 but this type of viral promotion could help make the film a bigger draw next spring.

The latest installment — which was released this week — is a high-fashion site called Capitol Couture, dedicated to the fictional capitol city in the post-apocalyptic nation of Panem. The Hunger Games — a young adult novel written by Suzanne Collins — has become extremely popular and successful since its debut in 2008. The film, which will be released on March 23, depicts an annual event where one boy and one girl from each of Panem's 12 districts fight to the death in a televised battle. Fashion plays a big role in the fictional capitol city, and the Tumblr blog is dedicated to the styles featured in the upcoming film. The first installment features a cover story for Effie Trinket — the capitol escort for District 12 — played by Elizabeth Banks.
