Solar Beats the Bank | One Block Off the Grid: The Smart New Way to Go Solar posted by Dave Llorens on September 8th, 2010 It Sounds Crazy, But It’s True Here at One Block Off the Grid, we’re constantly striving to demonstrate not only how much money solar can save, but also make for households, so we decided to conduct a little experiment: let’s say you, the homeowner, had $20,000 to invest today. Method: to approximate the rates of return from going solar, we had you, our homeowner, invest your electricity savings in a bank account with 4 percent interest. The Bank If you put the initial savings into an account with 4 percent interest then in 18 years you have $40,516, or $20,516 more than what you started with. San Francisco Once you deduct the California rebate and the federal tax credit, $20,000 buys you a 6kw system in SF through 1BOG (all of these scenarios use 1BOG’s group discount), with a monthly electric bill of $147. Long Island New Jersey New Jersey homes with solar generate SRECs, which can be sold to utilities for lots of cash. By Dave Llorens

Deadly Leopard Seal Tries to Feed Live Penguins to Photographer (Video) "Bloody Hell! That's the biggest leopard seal I've ever seen!" Leopard seals are pretty scary predators, especially if you're a penguin. But they can be friendly to other leopard seals, which is something that photographer Paul Nicklen learned during one of his trips to Antarctica. He was taking underwater photos when a leopard seal started feeding him penguins, starting with live ones, which were released close to him (to see if he would catch them), and ending with half-chewed dead ones. One theory is that the leopard seal saw his reflection in the lens of the camera and thought that Nicklen was a fellow predator, but an awkward one in need of some help. The Seal Saw Him as a Useless Predator Here's is a video of Nicklen explaining what happened, with many incredible photos. For more photos by Paul Nicklen, check out his website. Erogenous zone Primary and specific erogenous zones of men and women Erogenous zones are located all over the human body, but the sensitivity of each varies, and depends on concentrations of nerve endings that can provide pleasurable sensations when stimulated. The touching of another person's erogenous zone is regarded as an act of physical intimacy. Erogenous zones may be classified by the type of sexual response that they generate. Classification[edit] Erogenous zones are either nonspecific or specific. Nonspecific zones[edit] In these zones, the skin is similar to normal-haired skin and has the normal high density of nerves and hair follicles. Specific zones[edit] Specific zones are associated with sexual response, and include the lips and nipples in addition to areas of the genitals, notably the foreskin and corona of the glans penis, clitoris and rest of the vulva, and perianal skin.[1] The neuroanatomy and neurophysiology of erogenous zones is partly unknown.
