Turmeric Tea: A Simple Base On my recent trip to Kauai, I was spoiled by the wide availability of fresh turmeric, so much so that I created a daily ritual of turmeric tea. Research comes out every day linking turmeric to decreased risk of cancer and to improved brain health. Adding a daily beverage made with fresh turmeric may be just what the doctor ordered — and a great “Good Day Strategy” that I love to talk about. I know I felt great at the end of my two-week stay in Kauai but, of course, that was likely due to quite a number of reasons (rest, sunshine, exquisite fruit, all things I desperate hope to experience again one day…). Increasingly, fresh turmeric is available in health food stores in the United States and so I am able to get my fix at home as well but availability is a bit limited. Fresh turmeric has a stronger flavor than you would expect give the dehydrated turmeric powder. To make a tea, you simply make an herbal infusion as you would any other herb or root. Turmeric's Cardiovascular Benefits Found To Be As Powerful As Exercise By Sayer Ji Contributing Writer for Wake Up World Nothing can replace exercise, but turmeric extract does a pretty good job of producing some of the same cardiovascular health benefits, most notably in women undergoing age-associated adverse changes in arterial health. Despite the general lack of interest by conventional medical practitioners in turmeric’s role in preventing heart disease, there is a robust body of published research on its remarkable cardioprotective properties, with three dozen study abstracts on the topic available to view on GreenMedInfo’s database alone: turmeric’s cardioprective properties. Last year, GreedMedInfo reported on a study published in the American Journal of Cardiology that found turmeric extract reduces post-bypass heart attack risk by 56%. The 8-week long study involved 32 postmenopausal women who were assigned into 3 groups: a non-treatment control, exercise, and curcumin. Black Pepper And Turmeric – The Combination That Could Save Lives Black pepper & ‪turmeric‬ – The combination that could save lives A group of scientists from the University of Michigan has come to a conclusion that a combination of black pepper and turmeric could act as a great protection against breast cancer. What is even more interesting is that the same mixture can even help breast cancer patients.
