Children’s Book Week 2016 - Resources Written by Susan Stephenson, www.thebookchook.com I think it's important not to get too fixed on what makes a book suit this 2016 Children's Book Week theme. Australia IS a Story Country. Our stories come from all over: from our own indigenous people, from migrants and refugees who have come to live here, from books, movies and orally transmitted stories. Let's encourage Australia's children to immerse themselves in a range of stories, to read them, listen to them, watch them, think about them, and go on to share them with others! I have a few books I will suggest that I think make great resources for libraries and schools generally AS WELL AS suiting a theme like Australia: Story Country. Jandamarra by Mark Greenwood and Terry Denton. That Car by Cate Kennedy is a children’s picture book that’s about Australian kids using their imaginations to bring an old car to life. The Big Book of Australian History If you buy one nonfiction resource, let it be this. Where's Jessie? Look A Book!

6 manuales de encuadernación gratuitos (en PDF) – descarga directa | Encuadérnalo Hay veces en que no es posible asistir a algún curso de encuadernación, ya sea por que no existen, por que son costosos o por alguna otra razón. Using School Library Newsletters to Communicate As in many schools, my high school library is a hub of our building. Hundreds of students walk through our doors each day; administrators stop by; teachers are posted to duty at the circulation desk every period; custodians and security guards come to say hi; classes learn research–it is a space filled with energy. Because of my place in this bustling library bubble, I’m surprised every time I hear a teacher’s name I’ve never heard before. I’m only in my second year at my school, but I’ve made a point of going out of my way to meet as many teachers and employees as possible. There are still some people, though, with whom I have yet to connect. As I contemplated how best to reach all staff members, I thought of putting out digital updates and landed on the idea of creating a monthly newsletter. As each month passes, I use the feedback I receive, incorporate innovative ideas I encounter, and continually work on improving the final product I present. Author: Karin Greenberg Like this:

Henry David Thoreau on When Civil Disobedience Against Bad Governments Is Justified: An Animated Introduction “In March 1845, the United States acquired a new president – James K. Polk – a forceful, aggressive political outsider intent on strengthening his country and asserting its pre-eminence in front of other world powers, especially Mexico and Great Britain,” says The Book of Life. “Within a year of his inauguration, he had declared full-scale war on Mexico because of squabbles over the Texan border, and was soon rattling his saber at Britain over the ownership of Oregon. To complete the picture, Polk was a vigorous defender of slavery, who dismissed the arguments of abolitionists as naive and sentimental.” How did Americans who disagreed with this vicious-sounding character endure his term? Though Polk did enjoy popular support, “a sizeable minority of the citizenry disliked him intensely,” especially a certain citizen by the name of Henry David Thoreau. Activities for Middle School Libraries Middle school students aren't too old to enjoy library activities, and some exercises can help students prepare for harder research projects and writing assignments that they'll encounter in high school and college. The purpose of a middle school library is to help preteens appreciate reading while they're also exploring databases, reference materials and a wide variety of fictional and nonfictional materials. Activities should accommodate strong readers as well as those who are still working to improve their reading skills. Catalogue Races Middle school children need to learn how to use library catalogues to find the books, periodicals, reference materials and literary works they need. Treasure Hunt Organize a library treasure hunt. Book Sampling Place a single book at each seat in the library. Book Clubs Host a study hall, after school or weekend book club where students can discuss different types of literary works.
