Peg Board and Accessories Station This project believe it or not is for my sweet husband. … We have been married for almost 14 years! My poor guy has not just put up with me but with my jewelry all over the place. Now I have to be honest it is not just jewelry since I admit to have an “accessory problem” that includes belts, scarves, purses and shoes. Well… those messy days are OVER honey .… because I made a jewelry station that sits right inside of our walk-in closet. I think this is my new favorite place in our home. Let me start with the Peg Board. Before anything else you need to frame the back of the board since it has to come out from the wall… Yo can use any thin board, 1″ wide is good enough… Just make sure all corners are covered for best support. After the backboards are ready all you have to do is attach them to the peg board. The next thing I did was paint the board. While drying I decided that it needed a little EXTRA, something to try to make it… EXTRAORDINARY. . Just like this! Now let the FUN begin! 1. 3. . . .
DIY Picture Tiles - You Will Never Buy a Photo Frame Again Lately I’ve been having this huge urge to decorate the house. This is big news. I do not decorate. Arguably, one of the reasons why is because I. absolutely. hate. to. buy. mass. produced. decor. (Also, I can’t ever remember if pink and purple go together or not.) Anyway, this extends to photo frames. Nope. Long story short, I discovered this method of transferring my photos cheaply, quickly, and beautifully to something uncommon and unique. Tiles. The only thing that’s not particularly crunchy about this is that it uses Modge Podge or similar (and I’m not sure what’s in Modge Podge). It’s just grainy and doesn’t dry clearly. Boo. BUT, if you can overlook that one minor issue, I think you’ll love this. And it will be glorious. Here’s how you do it. First, you need to go to Home Depot, Lowes, or something like it. (FYI, I found that Lowes prices on tiles were cheaper than Home Depot. I like the stone tiles, because they have texture. So you pick out your tiles in the sizes you want. Go go go!

Try this exercise: A) Take some song you like — any song at all from any era, any style — just so long as it is familiar to you. B) Write a new lyric to that song. C) Take that new lyric and write completely new music to it. D) Edit. (Or you could do A-C-B-D — write the new music to the “scaffold” song and then write a new lyric.) What remains is a new song with only a hint of the “ghost” song that acted as a scaffold for the process. Listmaking Out of ideas? diy week {vinyl chalkboard UPDATE: The giveaway is now closed, Kaylene has the last counting comment. I know chalkboards are a bit of a craze right now, but I couldn’t help myself with this. If you are unlike me and can’t imagine painting your walls with chalkboard paint, you might fancy a vinyl chalkboard. I am sure most of you have seen the vinyl companies out there that provide all kids of custom graphics and text for your walls and other surfaces. Supplies: 1 sheet of chalkboard vinyl Exacto Knife Letter decals scissors cup (if you want rounded edges) Cute masking tape (to tape it if you aren’t ready to apply it to the surface) Chalkboard Marker Step 1: Use a cup to trace rounded corners Step 2: Cut the rounded corners Step 3: Apply letter decals to create the words you want permanently on your chalkboard Now you can apply it to your surface for a very simple, clean chalkboard. Optional Steps: Step 4: Using an Exacto Knife (that is very sharp) cut out the design of your choice. Step 5: Adhere the vinyl to your surface.
Ric Rac Rose - The Ribbon Retreat Blog I love these easy-to-make Ric Rac Roses! Isn’t it beautiful? You can make these and use them in hair, on jewelry, on clothing, as embellishments on anything! And with The Ribbon Retreat’s large selection of Ric Rac, your possibilities are endless! – Supplies – Ric Rac (I used 3/4″) Hot Glue Accessory to attach it to The first thing to know about this Ric Rac Rose is that the wider the Ric Rac, the taller the rose. I started out by cutting two pieces of Ric Rac at 21 inches. I ended up using a bit less than 21 inches… probably 16 or 17 inches. Now we are going to “braid” the two pieces of Ric Rac together. Keep going until you get to the end. Take the end and curl the Ric Rac in. Continue rolling the Ric Rac. You can put a little hot glue on the sides as you are rolling it. Here is how the side looks. When you like the size of your rose, you can stop rolling. Now put some glue on the under side of the rose. Bring the Ric Rac under the rose and adhere it to the glue. It looks pretty, just like this!
The Digi Nails – A Hybrid Manicure I’ve been seeing lots of outrageous nail art lately on pinterest. One hot new product that’s really caught my eye is adhesive nail polish strips. I love the funky designs and bold colors with these products, but they’re usually a little spendy for me. I have a great alternative and I’m super-excited to share with you a really fun, new way to use digital scrapbooking supplies! We are going to give ourselves a little hybrid manicure. To begin with, you will need the following: light color nail polish (white, light pink, cream, pale green, light turquoise, you get the idea….)rubbing alcoholsmall cup (I used a medicine cup.)digital supplies (laser print or copy)nail polish topcoat 1) Before getting started, quickly measure your fingernails. 2) Open a new Photoshop document and create for yourself 10-15 boxes that are a little larger than your nails. 3) Find some great papers that you’d like to have on your nails. 4) Print your page. 5) Paint your nails with your light colored nail polish.
DIY Wrap Bracelet You should all know by now that we are all about stacking bracelets on our wrists. The more, the better. In fact . . . the most, the best! With that being said, we’ll show you how to master a version of the ever so popular wrap bracelet. It’s so simple and addicting, you’ll soon be churning out these wristlets with your eyes closed. Clearly this arm party train isn’t stopping and it’s about time you get on board! You’ll need (for a double wrapped bracelet) :* Lengths will vary depending on the size of your wrist (see comments for suggestions). Fold the length of leather cording in half to form a loop. Place the ball chain along the leather cording with the end of the chain meeting the end of the wrap. Continue wrapping while checking it for fit around the wrist. When you have reached the end of the ball chain wrap the linen cording around the leather strands 2-3 more times. Thread the hex nut through the strands and tie a second knot. Trim with scissors and your wrap bracelet is finished!!
Perfect Box Pouch Tutorial « Make it Modern How insanely fabulous is this pouch? I can’t decide if I love it so much because a) it is made from glittery elephant fabric, b) of it’s small but perfectly proportioned size, c) it holds my on the go quilting supplies or d) all of the above. If you’d like to make your own see how below. You will need: 2 pieces of exterior fabric measuring 8 inches by 6 inches. Things that will come in handy: rotary cuttercutting matshearscraft scissorsclear ruler Step 1: Choose and cut your fabric- is it just me or is this oftentime the hardest part? I like to use a right angle ruler (“borrowed” from my husband) to make sure my fabric pieces are nice and square. Step 2: Layer your pieces. Step 3: Stitch the layers together 1/4 in from the edge. Step 4: Places both sets of fabric with the pressed under edges on top of the zipper and sew together. Step 5: Fold the two sides right sides of the exterior fabric together. Step 7: Move your zipper pull to the center and stitch a quarter inch seam on both sides.
