Biografie • Zitate • Weblinks • Literatur & Quellen • Bildquellen Biografie Im Sommer 2000 machte Niki de Saint Phalle der Stadt Hannover ein großartiges Geschenk – sie übereignete dem Sprengel-Museum 300 ihrer Werke – und erneuerte damit eine alte Verbindung. 1969 hatte sie in Hannover eine ihrer ersten großen Einzelausstellungen, und 1974 kaufte die Stadt drei ihrer leuchtendbunten, voluminösen Frauenfiguren und stellte die Nanas direkt am Leineufer auf, wo sie heute zu einem der Wahrzeichen Hannovers geworden sind. Niki de Saint Phalle war eine Weltbürgerin, 1930 geboren bei Paris, aufgewachsen in New York, auf Reisen in Europa, später tätig in der Schweiz, Frankreich, Israel, Italien und zuletzt wieder in Kalifornien.
