HOW LONG DOES STUFF TAKE TO DECOMPOSE | This and That, There and Here When we go to different areas, knowingly or unknowingly, we harm nature by littering the areas. Actually our original purpose is to search for peace of mind and to enjoy nature. We end up adding the degradation of Nature however. For example,we go for a picnic to a sanctuary, have fun with loud music, knowing full well that loud music is prohibited in sanctuaries. We drink and happily break the bottles on the rocks or throw the cans, make a fire, cook and most of the time, after having a great lunch we leave the plates, disposable glasses and polythene as debris scattered all over the place. It’s not that we don’t have the knowledge of environment pollution but sometimes because of lack of awareness and responsibility, we do harm to Nature. Here is a small list of things with the time it takes to decompose. Tinned Steel Can- 50 years Aluminum Can- 200-500 years Disposable Diapers- 550 years Plastic Bags- 20-1000 years Cigarette Butts- 10-12 years Leather shoes- 25-40 years Like this:

How to Make a Moss Chair August 4, 2010 by Robin Plaskoff Horton It’s eye candy, but maybe not seating. Los Angeles designer, Kyle Sugarman, created this cool moss chair and offered up the directions for the rest of to create on our own. Sugarman, who’s been featured on HGTV and The Style Network, has also left his creative mark with companies such as Microsoft, Lipton, and Target. • Find a side chair that has a nice solid seat–something with a great shape and with a vintage flair will really take this chair to the next level. • Once the chair is covered in newspaper you will then put a little spray adhesive down and a thin layer of chicken wire so that the moss has something to grab on to. • Section by section, spray a bit of adhesive on the back of each piece of moss and push it onto the damp newspaper/wire. • Once the entire chair is covered in moss, make sure to water it regularly in order to keep it healthy and growing. hat tip to casasugar

Garden Games A patio floor does double duty as a Scrabble board. E. Spencer Toy Click to Enlarge "I like areas of double use," says Sacramento architect Kristy McAuliffe, and her 5-foot square Scrabble board rates at least a double-word score on the scale of inventive garden games. With the help of friend Keith Rogers, McAuliffe made a wood frame, then poured concrete and scored it into 3¾-inch squares separated by ¼-inch joints. After the concrete had cured for one month, she colored the squares using water-base concrete stains. McAuliffe then made 100 3¼-inch square letter tiles from baseboard trim. She found precut, adhesive-backed vinyl letters and numbers at a sign shop, stuck them on the tiles, and sealed each one with spray lacquer. The lightweight letters, which are stored in a canvas bag, fit on metal trays made by McAuliffe's friend, metal artist Crystal Weber. Games go late on summer evenings. 5 Reuses for: Tea Bags" When my parents emigrated to the U.S. from Iran, they brought their Persian culture along with them. Part of that involved drinking black tea at least 5 times a day. 30 years later, that tradition is still going strong, and I don't even want to know how many used teabags they've thrown in the trash. Today we realize that there are so many different ways to reuse a teabag (other than obviously making another cup). Here are some favorite reuses that you can incorporate into your tea drinking ritual. 1. Tea bags do wonders for the garden. Lots of people add their used tea bags to a compost to help reduce garbage and cultivate their plants. 2.Under Eye Circles: Got puffy under eyes that no cream can fix? If you're looking for that extra oomph, try using a caffeinated tea bag. 3. Tap into your artistic side and get creative with tea bags.
