Smile Into Your Organs: “A smile is an inexpensive way to improve your looks” Charles Gordy I love the idea that smiling is used as a healing and meditation practice by many ancient cultures. Taoists believe that holding a smile on your face and directing it inwards towards your organs and inner body, is the key to good health and longevity. Traditional Balinese healers know that a smile washes away bad energy and recommend smiling meditation as a simple way to calm the mind and bring health to the soul. Photo by stuck in customs: How to smile on the inside: I was first introduced to the Taoist exercise called the “inner smile” about 15 years ago. Each week we were guided to smile on our face, really feel the smiling energy and then imagine ( in our minds eye ) sending the smiling energy into each of our organs. Now, this might sound super easy, however some weeks – to my surprise – some organs simply refused to receive a smiling breath. Smile into your organs and dissolve negative emotions: .

Wind Map An invisible, ancient source of energy surrounds us—energy that powered the first explorations of the world, and that may be a key to the future. This map shows you the delicate tracery of wind flowing over the US. The wind map is a personal art project, not associated with any company. We've done our best to make this as accurate as possible, but can't make any guarantees about the correctness of the data or our software. Please do not use the map or its data to fly a plane, sail a boat, or fight wildfires :-) If the map is missing or seems slow, we recommend the latest Chrome browser. Surface wind data comes from the National Digital Forecast Database. If you're looking for a weather map, or just want more detail on the weather today, see these more traditional maps of temperature and wind.

Cured 1 | 2 | 3 | 4 | 5 | Next > [Editor's Note: Since we conducted and posted this interview in 2009, there have been many developments in the story of Timothy Ray Brown, formerly known only as the "Berlin patient." In addition to this article, we encourage you to read "Tentative HIV 'Cure' Presents a Guarded Sense of Hope" for an update on Brown's condition as of late 2010, as well as the perspectives of two of our HIV-positive bloggers -- Ibrahim (who is encouraged by Brown's story) and Thomas DeLorenzo (who remains more skeptical).] Up until now, we've never been able to say that a person infected with HIV/AIDS has been cured. You see, in 2006, something incredible happened in a hospital in Berlin. This man's name has not been released; he's only known as the Berlin patient. Ever since that transplant, the Berlin patient has had an undetectable viral load even though he hasn't been on HIV/AIDS treatment since before the transplant. Dr. Welcome, Dr. Thank you. BrowserQuest This guest article from YourTango was written by Richard Drobnick. Men and women are different in many ways. They see the world through completely different perspectives. Here are six important communication differences that you should be aware of, to help improve your communications with your partner and make them smoother and more effective. 1. He believes communication should have a clear purpose. She uses communication to discover how she is feeling and what it is she wants to say. 2. He prioritizes productivity and efficiency in his daily life, and conversation is no exception. She uses communication to explore and organize her thoughts — to discover the point of the story. 3. He is conditioned to listen actively. She sees conversation as a productive end in and of itself. 4. He will want to tackle her problems head on, like a fireman. 5. He will often withdraw into his “cave” (becoming quiet and withdrawn) when he’s upset or stressed. 6. He feels like he’s being told what to do.

Take the bottom piece of the can and start to ruffle the perimeter of the can with your thumb. (Figure 10.) You don’t want creases, just ruffles. These ruffles are to allow the top portion of the can to fit over the bottom portion easily. Step 8. · Isopropyl alcohol works well with the stove but it does not burn as clean as denatured. · You will notice the aluminum strip creates an inner wall to the stove. · You can set your cooking pot right on top of the stove and cook. · Although, no amount of blowing will extinguish the flame. · Please!

The gargantuan mountain of cash that separates the rich from everyone else Below (center pic) is a diagram representing the different annual income levels of all Americans in stacks of cash. At the very top are the super-rich (see the tiny box?). At the bottom are the poor and the 'middle-class' (see the little box in the lower corner?). Everything in-between is inhabited by various ranks of millionaire. Notice the little pink block at bottom left in the left-hand image? If you're like me, you never had any idea there was this much legal tender in the entire world-- much less just in America alone. That enormous mountain of cash sitting under them is what allows an unwelcome handful of the rich to buy up our politicians and our news media. Note that these income numbers are only for rich families/households: they do NOT include much of what giant corporations have in their own separate coffers too, with which to deceive and manipulate us. For supporting references, please see: The super-rich, the 'plain' rich, the 'poorest' rich ...and everyone else

Religious Experiences Shrink Part of the Brain The article, “Religious factors and hippocampal atrophy in late life,” by Amy Owen and colleagues at Duke University represents an important advance in our growing understanding of the relationship between the brain and religion. The study, published March 30 in PLoS One, showed greater atrophy in the hippocampus in individuals who identify with specific religious groups as well as those with no religious affiliation. It is a surprising result, given that many prior studies have shown religion to have potentially beneficial effects on brain function, anxiety, and depression. A number of studies have evaluated the acute effects of religious practices, such as meditation and prayer, on the human brain. In this study, Owen et al. used MRI to measure the volume of the hippocampus, a central structure of the limbic system that is involved in emotion as well as in memory formation. This is an interesting hypothesis. Thus, Owen and her colleagues certainly pose a plausible hypothesis.
