Judith Ann Braun's Fingers Are Magical With an art career spanning more than three decades, Judith Ann Braun has tested the limits of her artistic musculature. She began as a self-described “realistic figure painter,” and worked through the struggles common to anyone who endeavors upon an artistic pursuit, that of searching for one’s own voice in the chosen medium. Fast forward to the 21st century where the evolution of Braun’s work has brought us to the Fingerings series, a collection of charcoal dust landscapes and abstracts “painted” using not brushes but her fingertips. Hamburger Bahnhof - Museum für Gegenwart - Berlin Der Hamburger Bahnhof – Museum für Gegenwart – Berlin beherbergt reiche Sammlungen zeitgenössischer Kunst, die in einer Vielzahl von Ausstellungen gezeigt werden. Er ist das größte Haus der Nationalgalerie, deren umfassende Bestände außerdem in der Alten Nationalgalerie, der Neuen Nationalgalerie, der Friedrichswerderschen Kirche, dem Museum Berggruen und der Sammlung Scharf-Gerstenberg zu finden sind. Wie schon aus dem Namen hervorgeht, diente der Hamburger Bahnhof einst einem gänzlich anderen Zweck. Als Endbahnhof der Bahnstrecke zwischen Hamburg und Berlin wurde er im Dezember 1846 in Betrieb genommen. Mit dem wachsenden Verkehrsaufkommen auf den Schienen konnte der Hamburger Bahnhof trotz einiger Umbauten nicht Schritt halten, sodass 1884 seine Stilllegung folgte. Erst im Februar 1984 ging der Hamburger Bahnhof in die Verwaltung des Senats von West-Berlin über und wurde anlässlich der 750-Jahr-Feier der Stadt teilweise restauriert.

Centre Pompidou-Metz 13 Disturbing Pieces of Art from History The media is often criticized for showing violent and disturbing imagery. Movies, TV, video games, tabletop RPGs, comic books, and various other things have all gone through periods where they're blamed for exposing children to dark and unsettling things. But as these fine art examples prove, violent and disturbing imagery is nothing new. (Obviously, this article contains some disturbing content.) 1. Painted in 1611, Massacre of the Innocents is Rubens' interpretation of Herod's order to kill every young male in Bethlehem, as recounted in the Gospel of Matthew. 2. This is but one of a series of works featuring disembodied body parts (including a painting of a pair of severed heads, equally as unsettling as this one) painted by French artist Théodore Géricault. 3. Next best thing to being there. Somehow, there's still something about being physically "in contact" with such art that adds a necessary dimension, imo. Glad to have the virtual alternative though, as I no longer travel (physically) by dcoda Feb 20
