Pure witch hazel extract, available in many drugstores and supermarkets, is the most frequently used form of the herb--more than a million gallons are sold each year. Witch Hazel is an oddball shrub. A few weeks ago (after giving up with the toner I was currently using) tried a new toner recipe and since then have been, dare I say, in love with it. Ingredients: 1/2 Cup Lemon juice 1 Cup Water 2/3 Cup Witch hazel (can purchase at any drug store) Plastic bottle or jar Facial toner recipe for those with normal to dry skin. *For oily skin add 2 Tablespoons Alcohol* STEP ONE: Mix ingredients in a bottle or jar. STEP TWO: Cleanse skin with facial cleanser and rinse. STEP THREE: Apply toner with a cotton pad, sweep upward and outward over entire face and neck. STEP FOUR: Apply moisturizer. Benefits: Witch Hazel: Tightens pores and reduces inflammation. Lemon Juice: Reduce blemishes and lightens skin. Make Your Own Eye Makeup Remover and Reusable Pads. Quite awhile ago I wrote about making your own make up remover wipes. It was killing me to pay the high price of the ones sold in the stores. Lately, however, a couple of other things have been bothering me about the whole taking makeup off thing! First, since getting rid of paper towels in the kitchen…I feel a little hypocritical still using them in the bathroom. :-) Second, I feel like my face needs something richer, with more emollients, for taking off my makeup. So I spent much of today searching for and developing a slightly different make up removal system, that after using tonight I think I am going to like A LOT! PART ONE:First I made some REUSABLE make up remover pads similar to something I saw on The Sproutz Store Blog. Weekend Project #1 - Terrariums for Pinterest Challenge I love projects and Pinterest so when Sherry over at Young House Love posed the 2nd Pinterest Challenge I had the perfect pins in mind. Dylan got me these great fish bowl bookends two birthdays ago and we've had little success keeping any kind of fish alive in them. (R.I.P Goldfish 1, Goldfish 2, Goldfish 3, Goldfish 4, Betta 1 and Betta 2 - you were doomed from the start without names.) One day it suddenly dawned on me that they could be terrariums! Supplies - Glass fish bowl bookends, tiny succulents, Cactus/Succulent potting soil, decorative stones, and a spoon. Completed succulent terrariums: I think my favorite part about this project was realizing that this was the perfect place to display the stones we have brought back from Iceland, Lake Superior and Italy.

Since posting the first time, I’ve had lots of questions about these buttons which will hopefully be answered in this revised post. Equipment Some handy notes: 1. single hole, hole punch (like this one here). 2. 3. Okay.. lets get started! Tracing tips: You can use either coloured pencils or permanent pens. Words must be writted backwards in order to be readable. Shrinking the buttons: To shrink the buttons, you can use an oven or a heat gun (the kind used for embellishing). After the buttons have twisted and twirled, and are LYING FLAT, it’s time to take them out. Note: If the skrinking is taking too long, you may need to turn your oven up. Here’s a short little stop-motion to make sure you’ve got the gist of how easy this is!
