alisaburke Fabric Wrapped Scarf Holder I know summer is barely over, but I can't stop thinking about autumn. It's my favorite season, so of course my collection of scarves has been slowly growing. For the past couple of months, I've been trying to figure out ways to organize my room and closet. This is one solution, at least for the scarves! It's also super inexpensive to make. See how I made it below: Supplies: - Shower curtain rings...quantity is up to you! 1) Cut the fabric into roughly half inch thick strips, as long as you can make them. 2) Tightly wrap strips of fabric around the curtain rings, applying hot glue every so often. 3) If a strip of fabric is too short, simply glue the end down and continue wrapping with another strip. 4) Keep going until you're all done! 5) After figuring out how you'd like to position your rings (I decided to do 4 rows, 6 columns, with the columns alternating denim and leather) tightly tie the rings together using the cord of your choice. Hang your scarves through the rings!

Maccabags!: Easy Peasy Pouches (How-to) Want a really fast project which uses up smallish bits of left-over fabric or your FQ's? These pouches are lined, can be left plain or embellished a little. For the basic pouch, you will need the following bits of fabric - the measurements include a 1 cm (.5 inch)seam allowance. For the pouch exterior: 1 piece, 17 x 45 cm (7 x 18 inches) For the lining: 1 piece, 17 x 34 cm (7 x 13.5 inches) For the drawstring casings: 2 pieces, 3.5 x 15 cm (1.5 x 6 inches) For the drawstrings: 2 pieces, 2.5 x 20 cm (1 x 8 inches) To embellish the pouch, you could use all sorts of things - here are some ideas but there must be a zillion more: a patch (purchased, or made from a piece of fabric, mine was about 5 x 4 cm (3 x 2.5 inches) a button a yo-yo a little embroidered something-or-other a little appliqued something-or-other a ribbon bow or flower What to do: Step 1 - I have used purchased cord in my pouch below, but follow this step if you want to make the drawstrings as you see in the photo above.

Bored and Crafty Faux Braided Bangle Bracelet I called this "faux" braided because it looks like your typical braid, but actually isn't. I've had this idea in my mind for a while; I've been contemplating ways to use thin metal bangles that I never use anymore. When the crew at Lion Brand asked me if I'd like to try out some of their yarn, I saw that they had this really interesting "ribbon yarn" and knew it would be perfect for this project. I love trying out new materials that aren't common (or that I haven't used before) so thank you to Lion Brand for letting me try it out! Of course, after I made the first bracelet, I had to go digging through my stash and try it out with some leather cord and satin ribbon. I also love how this particular way of wrapping and weaving creates a subtle chevron look. Supplies: - 4 thin metal bangles (or less/more, depending on the thickness of each bracelet and your desired look) - Measuring tape, scissors, Scotch tape - Any kind of flat fiber of your choice, such as ribbon or leather cord. Enjoy!

One of Those Days Some days, no matter how hard I try, I just can't keep ahead of the game. For that matter, I can't even keep up! Today, as I was cleaning the tub upstairs and putting laundry away in all the bedrooms, Hazel was being a busy bee downstairs. I should have known there was a reason she was so quiet. (sigh) At least the mess was relatively easy to clean up! Maybe, if I'm really efficient and get all my emails and other things taken care of, I'll have a chance to write up a couple of apron tutorials in the next few days. Here's an empire-waisted ditty, and this one is actually fully reversible! At any rate, I hope to have these tuts put together soon in case you're dying to make a cool new apron for the holidays!

SuperEggplant | Welcome to my adventures in knitting, sewing, baking, and life. DIY envelope clutch (vintage romper, river island feather headband) I’ve been wanting an oversized clutch for a while now, especially since I laid eyes on that Celine clutch shot by Tommy Ton for style.com. Its minimalism is so beautiful. Then, I saw the Clare Vivier La Pochette on ofakind.com and instantly knew what my next DIY would be.

tutorials I was asked to make a display table that represented faith at our stakes New Beginnings this week. I knew I wanted to do giant white flowers. Not only did they fit my theme perfectly, they also added a lot of drama. I wasn't able to find any tutorials online that fit the shape and size I wanted so I thought I would share what I figured out in the process. They are super easy to make and only take a few minutes. For this flower I used: 6 sheets of 8-1/2x11 paper scissors hot glue I cut four sheets of paper in half, one into 4th's and one into 8th's. Then I cut the tops into a petal shape. Next I placed a blob of glue on one side of the slit. Then I folded the one side of the slit onto the top of the other side. You can fold it over a little for a shallow bump or a lot for a deeper bump. Once you've made all your petals for each layer, start glueing them together. I placed the glue on the top side of the bottom end of the petal and then stuck it under the existing petals.
