It has penguins on it and I’m sure I’ll be wearing it for many years to come. The first time I wore the shirt (FIRST. I pretreated the EVOO stain with Shout spray, left it over night, then ran the shirt through the washer AND dryer. The penguin shirt came out of the dryer with the EVOO stain still there. Or so I thought. I pretreated with Grandma’s Stain Spray, let it rest overnight, and ran through the wash again. Would you like some wonderful stain spray for your laundry room? Fill an empty squirt bottle with equal parts Water AmmoniaJOY Dishwashing Liquid Spray on stain and gently rub in. I strongly recommend using JOY dishwashing liquid. I can’t guarantee the spray will take out every stain you come across, but it works just as well (if not better!) I hope you have the same stain-fighting success!

My love of studs and my love of jewelry making crossed paths (along with inspiration from high end, designer multi-finger rings) – and the triple stud ring was born. all photos: kirsten for we heart this Supplies: • Glue gun (or an industrial strength glue such as E6000) • 3 pyramid studs • Jewelry pliers • 2 adjustable rings** ** Any kind of adjustable ring blank will do. A quick glue note: If you use a glue gun, you must work quickly, as hot glue dries fast. Instructions: 1) These were my rings after I twisted off the loops.

Elsies Thrift Tips My sister, Emma, and I started thrifting together when I got my drivers license in high school. There are several shops in our town that stay open until 9PM, so that is what we would do for fun several times a week. With absolutely no knowledge of vintage we collected dresses and accessories from the decades that we loved, the 1950s-1970s. Fast forward ten years and we still love thrifting. Thrifting can be overwhelming when you start out. This next tip can be a little tricky. The nature of thrifting is that you choose pieces you love from the most random assortment. Sometimes you'll find a piece that could maybe work, but you aren't sure. Emma and I try to thrift every week. A couple years ago I had to have a HUGE garage sale and simplify my home because I had just collected too many things. Many thrifts are "cash only" or run weekly sales. I always check the racks for purses, belts, fabric (including vintage sheets and drapary) and jewelry. I hope these tips have been helpful!
How to Make Leaf Skeletons | The Idea Room I wanted to share with you a project from one of my readers who shares with us how to make leaf skeletons. I LOVE this! I have several leafs in various forms displayed in my home and knew I needed to make some of her leaf skeletons to add to my decor. I have spent hours and tried various ways of making these. You need washing soda, not baking soda! Gather your leaves. Washing soda is a strong base so you may want to wear gloves when handling the leaves. You will add 3/4 cup of washing soda and 4 cups of water to your pot of leaves. Keep going, you will need to add more water so your pan doesn’t dry out. When 1.75 hours are up fill a glass baking dish with cool water. I carefully removed them and rinsed with water and added clean water to the pan. If you’re still with me, this is what I ended up with… I have a maple leaf which turned out not so well. 37.1Kstumbleupon

DIY Project: Repurposing your maps! Good Morning darlings...Hope you have a fabulous day today!! With the use of GPS there is really not much use to all those maps we collected through out time...but somehow I have a hard time throwing them away. How about this lovely way of repurposing them?? MADE: TUTORIAL: the Circle Skirt - StumbleUpon I used to think that a gathered skirt was the easiest skirt to sew. But I may have changed my tune. A circle skirt is possibly even easier! If you’ve ever made a poodle skirt before, it’s the same concept. Once you’ve created your pattern, you can whip up 4 skirts in an hour! Okay, let’s get started. What you need (for a little girl’s skirt): * about 1 yard of fabric* appx 3/4 yard of 2-inch wide elastic FABRICS to use:* Rayon* Polyester Charmuese* Simple Cotton* Thin Corduroy* Lightweight WoolMany fabrics will work for this project. ELASTIC:Wide elastic from fabric stores typically comes 2 inches or 3 inches wide; white or black in color. If you’d like to add a colorful twist to your skirt, check out our easy Tutorial for Dyeing Elastic HERE. Measure around your waist. PATTERN:This requires a bit of geometry but don’t worry, we’ll break it down for you. You need to figure out the radius so you can easily draw a circle. Then connect the dots to draw 1/4 of a circle! Now you have a donut!
