Mason Jar Love

Mason Jar Love
There are just too many fun uses for these jars. My stash is ever growing, as I can’t seem to make it through Walmart without picking up a case. They’re just such a cheap investment. Craig thinks I’m nuts. BUT in my defense, I do plan on putting these beautiful little treasures to use. So, I’ve scoured Pinterest, several blogs and Etsy to find some of the best uses and cutest ideas. I love the idea of mason jar candles. Look at these clever Save The Date’s. MMM. Instead of serving cans of soda, serve pint jars of lemonade and or sweet tea. I NEED these dish towels! Everyone is loving the mason jar chandeliers right now. This screen printed t-shirt is great. While everyone is raving over the chandeliers pictured above, myself included, I am obsessing over this Sconce! Mason Jars as centerpieces? HELLO! AND my favorite! #kristanlynn xoxo *As always, click on the photographs to be taken to there home on the web. * Like what you're seeing?

How To Make A Stylish Photo Frame For Several Photos Here is a simple yet stylish photo frame that can accomodate quite many photos at once. The idea is very simple. Fasten twines on the empty frame and hang photos using clothes pins on them. You can use a frame you bought or a frame you made by yourself. To make it you just need to find some wood strips, sand them, paint or stain them and fasten together with the staples and nails. wednes-diy UPDATE: This post originally ran on March 23 2011, but with summer winding down we wanted to bring it back up for some late summer inspiration! a fellow fp girl sent this to me a couple weeks back and i’ve been thinking about it ever since! i can think of a million reasons why these would be awesome… as apartment décor, as outdoor party décor, and – wouldn’t they be the best thing EVER for camping in general or at a festival? just let them sit in the sun all day, and they’ll last all night! i am absolutely going to make some to bring with me to bonnaroo this year. you can buy a sun jar here, but you can make your own for much cheaper! what you need: a mason jar with a clear glass lid like this one from ikea, a solar garden light like the ones pictured above, which i found here, adhesive and glass frosting spray. start by spraying the inside of the jar with the frosting spray – this will help diffuse the light and give it a warm glow. don’t spray the lid though! last image.

things we make, bake and photograph: Things I'm loving this week: mason jars I love mason jars. I know everyone loves mason jars right now, but that's okay, I love them anyway. I've been using them for years to store buttons and ribbon and dry beans, and we used them at our wedding as flower vases with lace tied around the top. They are just so lovely. A mason jar stamp! I've seen several tutorials lately on how to make mason jars into soap dispensers. These are also adorable. These organic, hand-printed towels from madder root would match our kitchen chairs perfectly. I wish I had a deck so I could have these in my life ALL THE TIME. Do any of you use mason jars for anything?

Handmade Tissue Paper Flowers and Pompom Garland You'd think after making hundreds of these for my wedding, I'd be completely sick of them. But I can't help it, I love them so much! I'm a little sad that I didn't save a bouquet of paper flowers from my wedding, but I never thought I'd want to see them again. So I made some for home, only this time as a garland... ...And as bedroom decor... ...And maybe I couldn't resist making just a few little blossoms... Want to make some? Materials: Tissue paper Heavy-duty scissors Floral wire Make sure you use a pair of scissors that you don't mind ruining, because they're going to take a serious beating here. For a package of 20" x 25" tissue paper, 8 sheets: Large flowers (Peonies): 16 per pack Small flowers (Carnations): 32 per pack Mini pompoms (Garland): 8 per pack Small pompoms: 2 per pack Medium pompoms: 1 per pack* Large pompoms: 1 per pack *There will be enough paper leftover from a medium pompom to make flowers or mini pompoms The flowers are easiest, so lets start there. And here's completed!

How to Make a Paper Orchid My favorite ways to use this paper orchid are on top of a gift and to clip into your hair for a tropical event. But I am guessing that you all have at least another dozen great ideas for using this ever blooming bit of bliss. Maybe napkin rings or added to a tropical centerpiece? With only 4 pieces, this is so far the easiest paper flower I have posted. Lia Lia is a daily crafter, maker, designer and DIYer.

Tinted Mason Jars in Rainbow I love using mason jars for decorating and a seemingly endless supply of craft projects. But rainbow tinted mason jars, just like the vintage ones you can never find anymore? This one might be my favorite project with mason jars yet! Mason Jars Mod Podge in Gloss (buy it here) Food coloring Ramekins to mix colors Newspaper or paper bag Mix food coloring with a T or so of water into individual ramekins. You can do any color combination you like. Add a couple T of mod podge into your mason jar Add one ramekin of color into the jar and stir to incorporate it all together With a bowl underneath, carefully twist the jar around coating the whole inside with the mod podge/food coloring mixture. Let dry upside down on the paper Do the same with the other colors. Place the jars face down on top of wax paper and a cookie sheet into an oven, set on warm. When they're ready, they'll look clear and the mixture should lose most of its streaks.

The Dapper Toad: DIY Terrarium Tips I'm a sucker for succulents. They're cute, surprisingly colorful, and so easy to care for. I made these two succulent terrariums recently and would like to offer you some tips for making your own! I went to a few places including a fancy nursery but ended up finding the best selection at Home Depot. They had a good variety of sizes and shapes and at $2.00 each were considerably cheaper than everywhere else I looked. I looked many places for a good glass container and had a hard time finding anything with plain glass. Add some whimsy to your terrarium! It's amazing how a terrarium will instantly add a playful sort of elegance to any room.

Newspaper Nails A few weeks ago I shared in this post that I learned how to do this amazing thing called "newspaper nails." Since I love words, and reading, and books, it has inevitably become my favorite manicure. Want to learn the how-to? First, gather your supplies. Step one: Grab some newspaper and cut it into pieces big enough to cover your nails. Step two: Paint your nails white. Step three: Dip a piece of newspaper into the rubbing alcohol and saturate them well. Step four: Press the bit of newspaper on your fingernail hard for about three seconds and peel it off. Step five: Top coat time! Now admire your creation; and try not to chip your nails the first day like I all-too-often do.

An Interview with: Rebecca Long I recently had the pleasure of discovering Santa Barbara, California-dwelling Rebecca Long’s shop The Rubbish Revival, where she sells a slew of decorative sea glass creations. I am smitten by Rebecca’s ombre sea glass mobiles, that are a perfect representation of the ocean’s gradients. I emailed Rebecca to find out a little bit more about her, the inspiration behind her shop, and what she enjoys about nature. Tell us a little bit about yourself. Share a little bit about your shop. Who are some artists that inspire you? Of the things you’ve created so far, what’s one yoou’re been most proud of? What’s one of your most-prized nature possessions? It is a piece of green sea glass. What are some things you enjoy about nature? Living near the ocean is such an immense privilege.
