How Military Snipers Work& - StumbleUpon
For most of us, the word "sniper" evokes some unsettling imagery -- a lone gunman, undetectable, on the hunt. And while military snipers are indeed elite shooters who hide, line up a target in their sights and pull the trigger, there is a lot more to it than that. When a sniper takes a shot, there are countless variables to consider before squeezing the trigger --- wind speed, wind direction, range, target movement, mirage, light source, temperature, barometric pressure, and that's just the beginning. The work that goes into getting a good position to take a shot is immense. These highly skilled marksmen are often perceived as lone assassins racking up "confirmed kills." Because of the secretive and stealthy nature of the work, not too many people know what's really involved in being a sniper, so we went straight to the source: We interviewed a former U.S.

SurvivalBlog.com axioms - StumbleUpon Contents Contents | rgb Home | Philosophy Home | Axioms | Other Books by rgb: | The Book of Lilith | Axioms is a work that explores the true nature of human knowledge, in particular the fundamental nature of deductive and inductive reasoning. It begins by embracing Hume's Skepticism and Descartes' one ``certain'' thing, and then looking for a way out of the solipsistic hell this leaves one in in terms of ``certain'' knowledge. Indeed, to the extent that philosophy in the past has sought to provide certain answers to virtually any question at all, philosophy itself proves to be bullshit - all philosophical arguments ultimately come back to at least one unprovable premise, usually unstated, and can be refuted by simply asserting ``I don't agree with your premises.'' The way out is to give up the idea of certain knowledge. Axioms by Robert G. Dedication No book is written in a vacuum. Notice Copyright Notice Copyright Robert G. Lulu Press www.lulu.com

5 Real Life Soldiers Who Make Rambo Look Like a Pussy We all understand that action movies are cheesy escapism. After all, could one commando really take out a whole compound full of bad guys? Actually, yes. It turns out the history books are full of stories of soldiers doing things so badass they'd hesitate to put them into a film for fear of killing the realism. #5. Who Was He? Simo Hayha had a fairly boring life in Finland. Since the majority of fighting took place in the forest, he figured the best way to stop the invasion was to grab his trusty rifle, a couple of cans of food and hide in a tree all day shooting Russians. Can you spot Hayha? Of course when the Russians heard that dozens of their men were going down and that it was all one dude with a rifle, they got fucking scared. They started by sending out a task force to find Hayha and take him out. Then they tried getting together a team of counter-snipers (which are basically snipers that kill snipers) and sent them in to eliminate Hayha. ...for about a week. #4. Exactly. #3.

VLSub Downloads Subtitles to VLC Automatically It's not really hard to find subtitles online for your digital movie collection, but you can save a couple of steps with the VLSub extension for VLC media player. After downloading the extension from Github, just drop it in the appropriate folder. Windows: C:/Program Files/VideoLAN/VLC/lua/extensions/ OS X: /Applications/VLC.app/Contents/MacOS/share/lua/extensions/ Linux: ~/.local/share/vlc/lua/extensions/ My Mac's VLC installation didn't have an extensions folder, but creating it manually worked just fine. Now, whenever you load up a movie, you can find VLsub in the View menu on Windows and Linux, and in VLC > Extensions on a Mac. VLSub isn't doing anything you couldn't do yourself, but it can save you a minute or two to get you back to your movie sooner. VLSub | GitHub via Make Tech Easier

A Veteran of Bin Laden Assault Unit SEAL Team Six Describes His Training “Some of you look sleepy. All of you drop and push ’em out!” After push-ups and more instruction, we went outside, where the sunshine had dimmed. Soon we stood by our boats facing the ocean. Bulky orange kapok life jackets covered our battle dress uniforms (BDUs). Before long they returned and gave us orders. Losers would pay with their flesh—it pays to be a winner. “Ones in!” Our two front men jumped into the boat and started paddling. I ran in water almost up to my knees. “Twos in!” Two more jumped in and started paddling. “Threes in!” I jumped in with the man across from me, and we paddled. In front of us, a seven-foot wave formed. “Dig, dig, dig!” Our boat climbed up the face of the wave. As the ocean swallowed us, I swallowed boots, paddles, and cold seawater. I realized, This could kill me. Eventually, the ocean spit us out onto the beach along with most of the other boat crews. Then we gathered ourselves together and went at it again—with more motivation and better teamwork.
