Recipes, Home Cooking and Decorating A Beautiful Mess I love using cloth napkins to dress up our dinner table, and through the years I've grown even more fond of their sustainability and cost effectiveness. Though, I'm not sure how cost effective it is if you keep buying more and more cloth napkins each year! This holiday season I thought it would be fun to look at how I could dress up the napkins I already own to give them an extra festive vibe. Ribbon Trimmed Napkin This look is so (no sew) simple! Supplies:-ribbon-heat bond in width of ribbon-cloth napkin (buy mine here)-iron-fabric scissors (not shown above) Step One: Trim pieces of your ribbon to be about 1.5 inches longer than the width of your napkins. Step Two: Fold down the edges of each ribbon segment about 1/4" and iron flat. Step Three: Iron the heat bond to the ribbon (pressing with hot iron for two seconds), then peel off the paper backing. Step Four: Iron the ribbon in place on your napkin front with the heat bond facing down. Pom-Pom Trimmed Napkin That's all there is to it!

Traditions I love figuring out new traditions to make with my own little family. I definitely found one for General Conference on Sunday morning. My sis-in-law (SIL) Dana was telling me about how often she goes to my friend Hannah's blog and tries out her recipes. She was telling me about all the yummy ones she has tried, including the sticky bun breakfast ring and told me I had to try it. Let me just say WOW! My Aubri said while eating her sticky bun, "these are so yummy mom!" If you haven't already, you need to check out my beautiful and talented friend Hannah's blog! **If you aren't on Pinterest yet, please let me know and I'll send you an invite. Banana Coconut Upside Down Cake You know a dessert is good when you literally have to take the fork out of your husband’s hand to stop him from eating the entire cake. Not that he couldn’t. He has the metabolism of a 5-year-old. “This is dangerously good,” he mumbled through a mouth full of warm cake. This Banana Coconut Upside Down Cake has a layer of bananas and coconut with a brown sugar sauce infusing every bite. Technically this is a dessert but for some reason, probably because bananas are involved, I think I can find a way to serve it up for breakfast or brunch. Start off with layering sliced bananas on the each bottom of two cake pans. Pour on the brown sugar sauce…. Spread the coconut and cake batter on top and bake!

Repurposed Hardcover Book to Notebook Tutorial I’ve told you before I’m a bit obsessed with books. I love all books where I intend to read them or not. A local library has a huge book sale every year where you can pick up a grocery bag of books for $3! So at the last sale I picked up a big stack of hard cover books to be repurposed. What you need-Hardcover bookPaperDecorative paperSmall bit of ribbonPaper cutterWhite glueHot gluePadding compound (optional)Clamps or bulldog clipsFirst you need to cut the pages out of your book so your just left with the cover. Slather on a nice layer of white glue to the inside of your cover. Apply your decorative paper. Also cut a piece of thin recycled cardboard the size of your notepad and a piece of decorative paper about 3 inches by the width of your notepad (this will be used to wrap the top edge of the pad). Once dry, fold your decorative paper around your pad to create the creases, then apply glue to the paper, wrap the pad, and allow to dry. Now grab a pretty pen or pencil and doodle away!
