Kindergarten-Preschool Family and Pets Theme Printables Kindergarten Printable Reader 1 - "Families" The Family Book by Todd Parr is a wonderful book to read to the children. It points out the differences within family structures. After reading the book to the children, the emergent reader "Families" could be used as a follow-up activity . Kindergarten Interest Areas Each day I work with children in small groups during our language arts block. During this time, the other children are engaged in activities that I've set-up in various interest areas in our classroom. I'm calling them interest areas because they are flexible and ever-changing in terms of purpose. For example, one day children may be engaged in an art project at an interest area, while the next day the activity is more math focused in the same area. I do have a "math" center and a "writing" center, but I'm liking the greater flexibility I have with interest areas.

Instructions: How to Spring Clean With Nontoxic Home-made Products - Environment - GOOD Tackling spring-cleaning this month? Us too. But there's no sense in doing it if you're going to create a big mess for the planet (and your body) in the process. Cleaning up your act isn't as straightforward as running to the pharmacy and picking out a bottle covered in claims of eco-friendliness and biodegradability, however. When it comes to home cleaning products a lot of eco claims are unverified and—worse—unverifiable, with rare exceptions like Seventh Generation. Paint Chip Phonics I found a great idea on The Snail’s Tail. She really does a good job of explaining it on her site, but I’ll try to do it here too. The idea is to practice the consonants, blends, digraphs and common word families. I have to admit I was a tad intimidated to walk into Lowe’s and grab a whole pile of paint chips, but the lady was talking to me the whole time and didn’t seem to mind.

There are a couple of books out there that do this same thing, but you know me – I won’t pay for something I can make myself. :) There has been a small amount of interest in these, and I have decided to post my templates for anyone who might want to do this too.
