European Lawyers' Union - www.uae.lu Chers membres de l’U.A.E., chers amis, C'est dans un climat d'amitié et de participation constructive que s'est déroulée à Prague, il y a quelques jours, la XXVIIe Assemblée Générale de l’Union des Avocats Européens. C'est la première fois qu'un grand événement de notre association est organisé dans la République tchèque, un pays qui n'a d'ailleurs pas été choisi par hasard. La capitale bohémienne, qui aurait certes attiré de nombreux participants pour sa beauté et ses attraits, a surtout été choisie dans le but de poursuivre, par le biais de cet événement, le développement de l'UAE dans les pays médioeuropéens, selon un parcours déjà entrepris récemment en Pologne et en Hongrie et qui continuera prochainement en Autriche et en Roumanie. L'activité de notre association internationale d'avocats se poursuit donc, sans répit, avec des événements très importants. Future EU budget Greens welcome proposal on own resources but call for more transparency in debate on EU budget The European Commission finalised its proposals on the future financial framework of the EU yesterday, including a proposal for a new own resources system to finance the future EU budget. The Greens welcomed the proposals on own resources but regretted that the Commission sought to present what is in effect a budget freeze as an increase. Commenting on the proposals on own resources, Green budgetary spokesperson Helga Trüpel said: "The Commission has grasped the bull by the horns in proposing a meaningful new own resources system. "Crucially, the Commission is proposing a financial transaction tax (FTT), a long-standing Green demand, which will also help address the excesses of the financial sector. Green shadow draftsperson on the future financing of the EU Bas Eickhout added: "An honest debate on the EU budget should be based on transparency and not accounting chicanery.
