Butterbeer

Butterbeer
I also have a Frozen Butterbeer recipe! Check it out! 🙂 As I continue my little celebration of the release of Harry potter and the Deathly Hallows, part 1, today I get to share with you my favorite treat that I have ever, ever made: butterbeer! It seems to be the Harry Potter food that most people want to try more than any other! Fortunately, now you can, of course, at the Wizarding World of Harry Potter. I was lucky enough to go to WWOHP back in June. It. was. amazing. As for the butterbeer…well, I have to admit that it was definitely on the top of my list of things to do there! It was so delicious! There are several homemade butterbeer recipes that have popped up online since the opening of WWOHP, but I have to admit, I haven’t tried any of them. I started with the butterbeer itself. I considered butterscotch syrup, but ruled it our for two reasons: 1. 2. What else could give me that buttery flavor, but butter? Now, all I had to worry about was the “foam.” Ingredients Recipe by Darla

Jelly Shots - Mimosa Mimosa Jelly Shots, cut with an oval cookie cutter and skewered with edible flower petals The fourth submission for the End of Summer Cocktail survey is a no brainer. It is so obvious in fact, that I can't believe this cocktail didn't make it into the upcoming Jelly Shot Test Kitchen Recipe book. (Good thing the recipe follows!) So, without further aediu we present Mimosa Jelly Shot, a mildly alcoholic jelly shot, lovely on skewers, molded or cut into cubes. Mimosa breaks two of my cardinal jelly shot rules: 1) don't gild the lily, and 2) strain to remove solids. And speaking of juice, fresh squeezed is specified in the recipe - it really does make a difference. Mimosa Jelly ShotI ascribe to Ina Garten's garnishing philosophy- garnish according to the actual flavorings used in preparation of the item. Recommended Pan: 9x9 cake pan Pour juice and sugar into a small saucepan and sprinkle with the gelatin. To serve, cut into desired shapes. Makes 24 to 32 jelly shots.

The Infamous Jacques Torres Chocolate Chip Cookies Now, I have a chocolate chip cookie recipe that I swear by. I love it, I think it is incredible, and I haven’t changed my mind about that. However, as much as it pains me to say it, these chocolate chip cookies by Jacques Torres are absolutely, without a doubt, the best chocolate chip cookies that I have ever made or tasted in my entire life. I guess that’s why they call him Mr. Chocolate! These are a chocolate chip cookie of another color, that’s for sure. Either way, I made these and everyone that tried them went nuts. Edit: For more Jacques Torres deliciousness, check out my Jacques Torres Chocolate Mudslide Cookies! Your ingredients. Whisk together the cake flour, bread flour, baking soda, baking powder, and salt. Beat together the butter and sugars, until light and fluffy, at least 3 minutes. Beat in the eggs, one at a time, followed by the vanilla. Add in the flour mixture, very gradually, until just moistened. Fold in your chocolate. Author: The Crepes of Wrath Prep time: Cook time:

Lime in the Coconut Martini I'm thinking it might be time for some kind of intervention. Brian has apparently developed a condition whereby it is impossible for him to walk into any kind of liquor store without "discovering" some new Pinnacle flavored vodka for us to try. He also insists that all vodka be stored in the freezer and we are WAY over capacity in there. But, you didn't come here to listen to my domestic problems. Per Serving: 1 1/2 oz. Combine all the ingredients in a cocktail shaker. Thick Italian Hot Chocolate Have you guys ever had thick Italian hot chocolate? It is hands down the best hot chocolate in the world!! Cinnamon Sugar Pull-Apart Bread I’m sorry. I know it’s Monday morning and you probably came here for some pretty pictures of food that you could glance at, and then move on with your day… and here I go thrusting warm, soft cinnamon sugar bread in your face. It’s not fair. I know it’s not fair. I know that now you’re craving cinnamon rolls, and cream cheese frosting and chili fries and hot dogs. You don’t deserve this sort of torture. This bread hits all the comfort spots in my soul. I’m sorry and you’re welcome and I love you. Let’s start at the beginning. I did this all without the use of a stand mixer and dough hook. This dough can be made and left to rise , then refrigerated overnight for use in the morning. This is the dough just before it’s left to rise. After the dough has rested and risen for an hour, I knead it in a few tablespoons of flour. This is the part in the bread process where you can wrap the dough and place it in the fridge to rest overnight. I worked with my dough right away. I can’t even deal.

Winter coffee drinks! I am a coffee addict. IF my morning ever starts out without a cup, don’t talk to me. Doctor told me to cut down on caffeine while I was pregnant last year. What happens after the few hours? I loaded up on these Peppermint White Chocolate Mocha Lattes while I was pregnant. When I first set out to make one I of course went to Google, but I didn’t like what turned up; Peppermint extract. So the next best thing? If you ask me, and I’m not biased at all, I think my Peppermint White Chocolate Mocha Latte rocks! And I just saved you 4 bucks. Peppermint White Chocolate Mocha Latte Ingredients 1/2 cup strong brewed hot coffee or a shot of espresso 1/2 cup milk 1/4 cup white chocolate chips, chopped 3 tablespoons crushed peppermint (or crush some candy canes) Whipped Cream (optional) Instructions Brew strong hot coffee and pour 1/2 cup into your mug; set aside.

Strawberry Basil Lemonade This Strawberry Basil Lemonade is coming to ya from the archives but I’ve given it a bit of a face lift. Strawberry Basil Lemonade was basically the first drink recipe I ever post on WGC and it’s been my most requested drink ever since. It’s a refreshing blend of homemade lemonade that gets fresh strawberries and basil pureed into the mixture. Depending on who’s enjoying this with me, I’ll add a glug or two of gin or just leave it “virgin” and enjoy it over some ice. Either way, it’s the best drink out there and you should probably be drinking this come Monday by the pool working on your tan. At least that’s what I’ll be doing poolside, in Tucson, with my besties. And while this doesn’t directly figure into book tour, I’ve also managed to schedule just about every single meal while I’m in Tucson so I can hit up my favorite places to stuff my face while I’m there. So in the meantime, grab some lemons, strawberries and a handful of fresh basil and let’s make some cocktails or mocktails!

Bacon Lover’s Mac and Cheese » Annie's Eats Bacon Lover’s Mac and Cheese Cooking View This meal was most definitely a happy accident. It was prompted by various items in my fridge and pantry that needed to be used up – the partial box of pasta, the bag of spinach, mushrooms that hadn’t been used for their intended purpose. What surprised both of us was how much I loved this dinner. *Quick housekeeping note – The winner of the Big Bowl of Love giveaway from last week is Jessica who said, “When I’m checking out a cookbook, I look for the whole package. Life Blog | Personal Finance News & Advice Make coffee at home instead of buying fancy lattes at the local cafe (or, OK, Starbucks outpost), and you’ll save boatloads of cash each year. Shocking, right? If only it were that simple. Although financial gurus repeatedly trot out the so-called latte factor as a prime example of how we’re all busting our budgets, the tired tip fails to account for one major hurdle: taste. The good news is, even cooks with little skill and a basic drip coffeemaker can improve the flavor of their home brew. Use these tricks and recipes to make your homemade coffee more palatable straight up, or mixed into a fancier drink. 1. It extracts more flavor and releases the essential oils, says Jill Houk, a chef with Centered Chef Food Studios in Chicago. 2. Don’t keep beans or grounds in the refrigerator, advises former Starbucks barista Will Kruisbrink. 3. 4. Hot coffee + ice = a too-bitter brew. 5. “Transfer your coffee off the burner as rapidly as possible,” says Chef Tom. 6. 7.

4th of July Weekend I hope you all had a fabulous 3-day weekend filled with amazing food, belly aching laughs, and memory making fun. Tomorrow I will get back to a more “normal” post. Today will just be a recap of this past weekend. And it feels like we did a lot. We went to dinner at Romano’s Macaroni Grill. Tested paint colors in our kitchen. Took the dog on a walk. Blew bubbles. Played at the park. Amara’s hair did a woo hoo thing. Thalia did some homework. And I made this milkshake. Good times. What did you do this 4th of July weekend? Charlie Bucket’s Chocolate Milkshake Ingredients 4 scoops vanilla ice cream ¾ cup milk 2 tablespoons chocolate syrup 2 tablespoons Oreo cookie crumbs Whipped cream (optional) Mini chocolate chips (optional) Directions Put ice cream, milk, chocolate syrup and cookie crumbs in a blender. Top with whipped cream and mini chocolate chips. Print This Recipe

The Pastry Affair - Home - Garlic Parmesan Pull-Apart Bread I once made the driest pancake in the world. I can see you sitting at home, staring at your computer screen, and scoffing at my bold statement. Driest pancake in the world? Let me share my story with you. A few years back, I made chocolate chip pancakes. Quickly flash to the next morning. Still cold. Confusion. Was the microwave broken? I got angry, as one will when they want food and want it now. When I took it out, the pancake was slightly less cool. It took me a few hours to realize what had happened. It only stands to reason that my pancake was so utterly dry that there wasn't enough water in it to be absorbed by the microwaves. Thus, the world's driest pancake was born. And to think I took a bite... Luckily, this Garlic Parmesan Pull-Apart Bread is definitely not dry. One Year Ago: Chocolate Orange Miniature Cakes Garlic Parmesan Pull-Apart Bread Yields 1 loaf In a large mixing bowl, stir together the yeast and water. Punch down the dough. Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C).
