How to Migrate Your Facebook Account and Data to Google+

How to Migrate Your Facebook Account and Data to Google+
Arrrrrgh, the really sad part is that you sent this to me and in all that searching for an alternative fb/g+ sharer, I didn't realize this could also do that. I'm having some trouble loading stuff up though. The home page is very slow, but loaded...but now that I've got it installed the Facebook and Twitter "login" pages don't seem to be loading at all. I'd love to add this to the article, but I can't really do that until I get it working...any advice? The FB/Twitter icons on the right side of the top toolbar should pop up authorization windows for each of the services and require you to login, once that is completed, you will have to click those buttons again & hit the "login" link one more time to get it to actually connect. Once you've connected, there will be checkbox/icons in the share box for whatever services you're signed into. Hopefully that helps... Yeah, what I'm saying is that when I click on the icons you mention, they *don't* pop up authorization windows.

Still, that's a lot of sorting to do especially if you already have a lot of followers. 7.

Apps and Stuff you have to read Each week my Flipboard app, Twitter responses, my kids, my Kindle Fire and my Google reader deliver a collection of new web tools, apps, books, crazy experiences and must read articles. Here is this weeks collection: I expect to see a version of this technology in our classrooms in the next two to three years. I can see groups of year 1 children looking for carefully hidden stickered treasure armed with iPads. Or perhaps, techy minded vigilant teachers will sticker their items in the fridge which seem to find their way out of the staff room. A great site I came across in the TES, which would support Teachers and Key Stage 2 pupils in their photography work. I am currently investigating the possibility of using Minecraft within our school, there is an app, but I am reliably informed by our Year 6 boys of how rubbish it is in comparison to the “real thing”. Firstly head over to Minecraft edu where you can buy an educational version of the game/ creator thingy.

Early adopters of Google+ are captivated by the network's growth, as many tech elites — including Mark Zuckerberg, Robert Scoble and Kevin Rose — have amassed large followings in just weeks. Google+ hasn't hit a mainstream audience yet, but it does seem to be romancing the tech geeks with strong force. With so many influential techies flocking to Google+, it's a great place to showcase expertise and learn from others. Why you should optimize your LinkedIn profile links - Wiep There is enough info available about how and why to use LinkedIn and how you can add links to your profile. But why would you neglect optimizing your profile links, by leaving out the anchor text? Recently, I came across two profiles with links that didn’t have one of the standard LinkedIn anchor texts, but also dind’t have a “polluted” anchor text. This means no company names, high competitive keywords or common anchor texts. In both cases it were links with a (pretty) unique anchortext. Here’s Michael Gray’s profile. Example number two is Peter vd Graaf’s profile. In both cases, the anchor text used has no occurances on the page. Want to use these powerful links more efficiently? In stead of filing your links under “My Blog” or “My Company”, you can file them under “Other”.

Google: Business version of Google+ is coming | Social Media | Macworld Computerworld - Google is telling IT executives to hold on, perhaps until later this year, as it prepares Google+ for the rigors of business. In blog posts this week, Google officials explained that the new Google+ social network, unveiled just last week, simply isn't yet ready for enterprise use. "We have been watching Google+ take shape over the last week and we've seen some really great companies get involved," wrote Christian Oestlien, a developer on the Google+ project, in a blog post (registration required). "But frankly," Oestlien added, "we know our product as it stands is not optimally suited to their needs. In fact, it was kind of an awkward moment for us when we asked Ford [Motor Co.] for his (or was it her?) gender!" In a video blog post, Oestlien asked companies and organizations to hold off using the consumer version of Google+ for business purposes. "Right now, we're very much focused on optimizing for the consumer experience," he said.

Google+ Post Privacy Settings Explained Understanding the post-privacy settings in Google+ helps you understand who sees what. [Please remember the site is in beta and bugs - that break these privacy "rules" are always possible. Never forget you are in a public environment.] Public: Everyone, regardless of whether they are a Google+ member or not, can see this. Whether someone see’s it in their circle stream, or in incoming, or only when visiting your profile depends on how they have (or have not) become connected to you by their own actions. Extended Circle: “XCircles” Everyone in your circles and their circles can see it. Similar to above – where they see this depends on how they have connected themselves to you. Everyone in their circles sees it, if they visit your profile, but not otherwise. Your Circles: This setting shares the content to all of your circles, but does not make the post visible on your wall to friends-of-friends. Individuals: Sent to the stream and with notifications if it’s sent to an individual. Summary

Google+ Changes the Social Media Game for Business The long-awaited Google+ debuted to select users Tuesday. The service is Google's latest introduction into the social media soirée as it tries to pull in some of Facebook's 600 million users with new features, clearer privacy guidelines, and intuitive ways to search and share content. Of course, many of those users are already using Google's other services. Granted, many of the platform's features are very similar to Facebook's: There are profiles and "friends," a "like" feature called Google +1, a news feed, and messaging. These include friend groupings, where a user can set who sees their posts, images, and other content. So what does this all means for businesses? Because the appeal of Google+ is in its targeted sharing options, companies won't be able any longer to blast messaging across the platform through a few well-connected users--often a good strategy on Facebook and Twitter.

Why I’m hooked on Google+ Mark Ragan asked on Google+: “Why do you like Google+ or dislike it? What are its greatest strengths? Weaknesses?” I wrote a longish answer, which I’d like to share here as well. Why I keep returning to Google+ I find myself looking at and replying to the posts in my Circles at least daily. 1) The organization of comments with the original post enables an intelligent, longer form conversation. 2) The absence of the “traffic building” gimmicks that caused Facebook’s interface to become a junkyard (on the way to being he next MySpace in terms of a messy interface?) 3) Google+ Hangouts and Chat provide instant communications options – from every page. 4) Circles, of course! It still could be improved Not every thing is perfect. My public profile on Google+ If you’re interested in following what I have to say on Google+, check out my public profile.

A Google+ upgrade that could be useful for PR counselors (and journalists) By | Posted: September 21, 2011 One day after the release of a new (and potentially bogus) study suggesting Google+ activity has decline significantly, the search giant grabbed headlines by announcing that the social network is now open to everyone. Of course, considering how easy it was to score a Google+ invite, you probably figured it already was open to the public. In a blog post on Tuesday, Vic Gundotra, Google’s senior vice president of engineering, said: For the past 12 weeks we’ve been in field trial, and during that time we’ve listened and learned a great deal. The latest improvements include Hangouts on smartphones and tablets (Hangouts is the video-chat feature that lets up to 10 people take part); a new hybrid search that enables users to search within the social network and on the open Web; several Hangout “extras,” and more. An additional feature that may wind up being the most relevant for PR professionals and journalists is Hangouts On Air. Gundotra explained:

A Journalist's Primer to Google+ After a few months of chatter, Google+ has opened up to everyone. As a journalist, Google+ is something you need to explore. Its simplicity of broadcasting your message is worth understanding and using to connect with news consumers. I jumped into the new social space within 24 hours of its release. I’m an early adopter, and I love to share what I learn when I play in new spaces. My last three months of experience will help you jump in even faster. But first, to understand Google+, you must get back to the basics of social media. Twitter When you post to Twitter, everyone sees it. Facebook A lot of things have recently changed in the ways you can post to Facebook, but let’s keep it simple. Think about peanut butter and chocolate coming together. Before you join, add a profile Before you jump in, I highly recommend you build the heck out of your Google profile.
