L’autisme n’est plus une maladie rare de nos jours. Dans les années 1970-1980, on reportait qu’un enfant sur 2000 était atteint de cette maladie envahissante du développement. D’après les résultats d’un sondage datant de 2011-2013 fait par le « Center for Disease Control Prevention (CDC) » aux États-Unis, les chiffres sont alarmants: on notait alors qu’un enfant sur 80 était sur le spectrum de l’autisme. Mais il y a pire encore, les chiffres d’une grand sondage national (2014 National Health Interview Survey) réalisé aux États-Unis en 2014 par ce même centre CDC démontre qu’un enfant sur 45 montrent des signes d’autisme! By Heather Campbell >> My interest in how best to help people interact with one another at work has recently led me to explore the potential impact of Generation Y on the workplace. Depending on what you read, Gen Y consists of those individuals born late 1970s/early ’80s through to mid/late 1990s. Although my specific interest is how people relate to one another, my research opened up a range of different paths about the impact this group (and it’s a big group – there are a lot of Gen Y-ers) will have on the workplace generally. Here are some of the key themes that emerged. They’re described as selfish – the ‘me, me, me’ generation – with short attention spans and used to having their specific needs met (no such thing as ordering a standard coffee nowadays – skinny hazelnut latte anyone?). Wow! Yes, they are more likely to have a gap year than members of my generation – Generation X(!) ♦ Separating generations into discrete and labelled groups is not helpful.

This article represents my educated observations as an experienced nurse anesthetist who also happens to be the mother of a child on the road to recovery from an autism spectrum disorder (ASD). As a practicing anesthetist for over 25 years, I am in a position to observe trends in the patients I have helped treat. The trends I have seen should come as no surprise, because autism spectrum disorders have reached epidemic numbers, and autistic children tend to have health problems. I am not the only one who has observed these trends. Terminology[edit] Authors William Strauss and Neil Howe wrote about the Millennials in Generations: The History of America's Future, 1584 to 2069,[2] and they released an entire book devoted to them, titled Millennials Rising: The Next Great Generation.[3] Strauss and Howe are "widely credited with naming the Millennials" according to journalist Bruce Horovitz.[1] In 1987, they coined the term "around the time 1982-born children were entering preschool and the media were first identifying their prospective link to the millennial year 2000".[4] Strauss and Howe use 1982 as the Millennials' starting birth year and 2004 as the last birth year.[5] Newsweek used the term Generation 9/11 to refer to young people who were between the ages of 10 and 20 years on 11 September 2001.
