Teacher Recommended: 50 Favorite Classroom Apps

Educators and students are quickly becoming more comfortable with classroom technology, allowing them to shift from thinking about the technical side of integrating a new tool to focusing on how it improves learning. While the sheer number of education apps is still overwhelming, increasingly teachers have found what works for them and are sticking to them. “The conversations I had were radically different than they were a year ago,” said Michelle Luhtala, the librarian for New Canaan High School and host of an Emerging Tech webinar on edWeb. She tapped her professional learning network of educators, teaching all grades and located all over the country, to share their favorite tech tools. “A year ago people felt like it was this new thing that was so overwhelming,” Luhtala said, “and now it really seems much more comfortable.” Educators have become proficient with their favorite classroom apps and are getting more creative with using them to achieve teaching goals. Epic!

YouTube adds a custom blurring tool for creators If this sounds a little familiar, that's because YouTube did launch a blur ability in 2012, but that was only for people's faces. This new blurring tool, on the other hand, is for pretty much anything that you want to obscure. All you need to do is draw a square around what you want to block out and the software will automatically do it for you. The cool part is that the blur will persist even as the object moves around, thanks to some tech that figures out video motion on the fly.

3 things to do right now to organise your Google Drive in the most efficient way I have noticed that people who have a total mess on their work table tend to have the same disorder in their files and folders. But to put things in order can be much easier that it may seem at the first sight if you know some useful hints about working with your Google Drive. 1. Set up a convenient structure for your Google folders I know, it may become a nightmare to clean up all the mess that has been gathering in your GDrive for ages, but trust me, it is worth it. If you have many files that you are almost sure you will never need again (some old college projects, for example) but you have no guts to simply throw them away, create a special folder for them and name it “Just in case” or something like that.

14 iPad Apps for Storytelling in the Classroom Storytelling continues to gain popularity as an educational activity as it stimulates a deep thinking process, it provides opportunities for reflection and it enhances and enriches the learning experience for our students. Storytelling is a very powerful way of communicating with our peers and portrays to others who we are and what our own stories are.
