The Power of Teacher Collaboration - Google + HyperDoc Community Last week I shared some of the incredible resources connected to HyperDocs by incredible educators who love to share and collaborate. Teachers are sharing some awesome HyperDocs on the Teachers Give Teachers Site, Facebook, Padlet, Google +, and Google Drive. Exploring Additional Resources Connected to HyperDocs Today I want to focus on the power of Google + Communities. HyperDocs can be categorized by content area.A public view link can be shared. We did not create this community to compete with or replace any of the other great ways educators are sharing HyperDocs. RadioISS: Listening to Earth from Space The 32 Best Google Docs Add-ons in 2017 A word processor requires very little—a blank page, typography tools, and a way to save, print, or share your finished documents. The earliest word processors like Word for DOS and WordPerfect offered little more than that. An update here, a new version there, and 30+ years later, word processors offer an embarrassment of riches with more tools than can fit in Word's tabbed toolbars. Google Docs took a simpler road, with a simple collection of core document formatting features bundled with its world-class collaboration tools. That's where add-ons come in. Here are the Google Docs add-ons we think are the best. How to Use Google Docs Add-ons First, though, you need to know your way around the Google Docs Add-ons store. Find something you want to try? Your add-ons will find a new home in the Add-ons menu. For instance, the translation add-ons we tested all can only translate the text you've selected. Decide you need to clean up Google Docs and get rid of add-ons you no longer use? Styles

The Magic Automatic Lesson Planner with Google Forms Take the hassle out of lesson planning. Go digital. Make your plans searchable and shareable. Traditional lesson plan books have their limitations. Wouldn’t it be great to be able to search quickly for a specific lesson plan instead of flipping back page by page? How about being able to share lesson plans with others without making photocopies? You can use Google Forms to create a lesson planner that creates documents — automatically! Invest a bit of time now (I’m guessing +/- 30 minutes … just my best guess) and you’ll have a system that saves your lesson plans to your Drive that you can find easily later. You’ll create a Google Form like this one (click here) where you’ll type up your lesson plans. With the steps in this post, you’ll automatically create documents with all of your data like this (click here)! I published a post called “20 practical ways to use Google Forms in class, school”. Here it is … step-by-step instructions to add automation to your Googlized lesson plans: 1. 2. 3.

Teacher Tech | Alice Keeler Engaging Quiet Students with Google Forms When I was a student (many, many years ago) I dreaded class participation. Now don’t get me wrong… I loved school. I was a straight-A student who excelled in all my subjects, loved to learn, and took the most challenging courses. I just didn’t like to talk. You see, from the time I was a little child into my early teen years, I used to have a stutter. And I am sure I was not alone. Perhaps they wrestle with a speech impediment.Maybe they fear they do not have the right answer or a valuable contribution.Or they just need more time to think before they are ready to answer.Or maybe they are shy. Giving Answers Here’s the traditional situation. “Using just adjectives, how would you describe the protagonist from the novel we are reading?” Some students drop their heads, others look anywhere but up front, still others try to seem busy. How could this have gone differently? One option would be to use a technology tool to collect feedback from all the students so everyone would be involved.

Brand New Chrome Extension for Slides! – Instant Relevance According to a valid statistical survey I just made up, everybody loves Google Slides…everybody. Being web based, it’s easy to add videos, images, items from your google drive, find templates, and take Google’s own suggestions for display themes through their Explore function. But sometimes, people like features Powerpoint used to have that Google Slides doesn’t. I mean, the request goes way back: Microsoft need not fear Google docs, as the big G's Powerpoint ringer doesn't even have a slide sorter, one of the most useful tools! Hey @googledrive – can we please add slide sorter view to Google Slides? Then I saw these tweets recently and it got me thinking again. Two key areas where Google Slides currently underserves:1. @alicekeeler can you pull your Google magic and have them create a slide sorter for Google slides like they have in PPT? So I decided to act. That’s right. And below is a brief video tutorial.
