The finished product is delightfully lovely, and at times can look like a real flower! Every flower will turn out differently and that is part of the beauty! If you haven’t used those tea lights in a while, now’s the time! Supplies: · Synthetic Silky Fabric · Scissors · Candle (preferably a tea light) Additional supplies: · Needle and Thread, Glue Dots or Glue Gun · Buttons and/or Beads Directions: 1. Make the largest one’s diameter about half an inch larger than you want the diameter of the flower, as the petals will end up shrinking a bit. 2. You can also cut around the pattern and skip the drawing part, it just might not be as uniform . . . but with these, uniform isn’t necessary. 3. Cut just inside the drawn lines to make a circle out of the fabric. 4. Be very careful (please have adult supervision, this is rather dangerous), as it is very easy to get burnt. 5.
High Bun Lately, it seems, we’ve been inundated with red carpet high buns—Charlize Theron loves ‘em, Rachel Bilson went high and tight recently, and SJP has sported the high bun for years. Mostly I shy away from the style because I think they look a bit too ballerina and also just too sweet on me—until now. I happened upon this high bun, above, and instantly fell in love. Maybe it’s the French feeling of the style or the casual, just-swept-up look, but how cool would it be paired with, well, anything in your closet? Adore. One bit of advice, though: You need really long hair. I think they turned out super cute, so I wanted to share a quick and easy how-to + couple ideas how to use them, so you too can have cute chalkboard vases this spring. First, I gathered a few glasses, jars, wine bottles, etc. that we had lying around the house and gave them a good washing. Then, I coated them with an oil-based primer. Your hair doesn’t need to be extremely long, but you do need some length to cover the top of your head with. If you have layers, you could instead create a tiny French Braid where the hair is shorter and closer to your head, if that makes sense. But it’s a fun and cute braided hair style that’s just a little different. Here I’ve replicated the process for you in 7 steps on an extension. TOOLS: highlighting comb, clips, foils, color brush, hair bleach with the appropriate volume (always seek a professional when using bleach), light pink color, dark pink color, light blue, dark blue, clear gloss. Step 1 Highlight the tips of the hair using hair bleach with the correct volume. Step 2 Fold up your foil and let it process until it reaches a pale blonde. Step 3 Shampoo and lightly condition bleach out of the hair. Step 4 Blow hair completely dry. Step 5 Place the hair on a foil. Step 6 Next, paint the light blue (or whatever color you choose) on the entire bottom 2/3. Step 7 Paint the very tips (or bottom 1/3) using the darker version of that color. This is such a fun summer trend and I hope everyone finds their own fun way of doing it.
