bomomo News I recently started playing with shaders in three.js and I wanted to share some of what I’ve discovered so far. Shaders are the ‘secret sauce’ of modern graphics programming and understanding them gives you a lot of extra graphical fire-power. For me the big obstacle to learning shaders was the lack of documentation or simple examples, so hopefully this post will be useful to others starting out. What is a Shader? A Shader is a piece of code that runs directly on the GPU. The big conceptual shift when considering shaders is that they run in parallel. There are 2 main types of shaders – vertex shaders and pixel shaders. Vertex Shaders generate or modify 3D geometry by manipulating its vertices. There are 2 different kinds of pixel shaders - Shaders that draw an image or texture directly. Pixel Shaders in Three.js Three.js has an effects manager called EffectsComposer and many useful shaders built in. Preview some of the three.js built-in shaders with this demo. Flickr Flickr (von englisch to flick through something, „etwas durchblättern“, also etwa „Vorrichtung zum Durchblättern“ bzw.

Flame Painter | free online paint program Flame Painter is a unique paint program, it belongs to my 'I am an Artist' experimental project. I think with tools which inspires you, everyone can be an artist. You can try it here, change different brush settings and paint your own flame paintings. When you change the background from black to white, the palette changes from additive to subtractive and the feeling of the painting is very different. Check out new Rebelle - the real watercolor and acrylic paint program, Amberlight - abstract art tool based on particles, or Fluidance motion effect program. You can try more experiments here. NEW: This is a new Flash version of Flame Painter Free, we removed the old Java version, because it is not anymore supported correctly by most of the browsers. Tools: FADE - fade in/out [ on | off ] GRADIENT - color gradient [ on | off ] COLOR - brush color SATURATION - brush saturation OPACITY - brush opacity SIZE - brush size SPEED - brush speed FOCUS - local forces NOISE - crazy noise parameter

Internet Week Europe 2010 Hello. My Name's Paul and today I'm going to demo some neat features of HTML5 (and modern browser capabilities) through canvas (in fact, this background is a fullscreen canvas ~ we'll let this draw as we go through the talk). This won't cover absolutely everything in this field but will pick out a few features as examples for inspiration. <canvas id="doodle" width="500" height="500"></canvas><script type="text/javascript"> var canvas = document.getElementById("doodle"); var context = canvas.getContext("2d"); context.fillRect(100, 100, 300, 300); </script> window.addEventListener("deviceorientation", captureOrientation, false); function captureOrientation(e) { alpha = e.alpha; beta = e.beta; gamma = e.gamma; } LAUNCH DEMO ~ Device orientation currently supported in Chromium It's low level drawing but don't throw away your current workflow var logo = new Image(); logo.onload = function() { context.drawImage(logo, 320, 90, 100, 95); } logo.src = "images/chromium_logo.png";

Aleph Null is my first piece with the new HTML 5 canvas tag which requires no plugins and works in all modern browsers, including mobile phones. Aleph Null is color music. Here is a slidvid of Aleph Null stills. Many artists have created works that construct some sort of visual music in which there is no audio. In particular, Ben F. ERASE: The 'e' key erases the canvas and changes the path the shape follows. 'Aleph null' is the first and most homely order of infinity. On the PC, Firefox provides the highest framerate. A friend reports that Aleph Null performs quite well on the Mac. I like running Aleph Null at around 30 frames per second, myself. Creating Aleph Null has been part of a re-tooling process for me.
