30 Incredible Infinity Pools

Incredible Infinity Pool in Bali. Photo credit: Sean McGrath It’s the middle of a blistering hot summer in the United States, so taking a dip in the cool water of an infinity pool sounds heavenly. The design of infinity edge pools are visually stunning, as the swimming pool appears like the edge vanished and the pool stretches into the horizon or to infinity. The design concept of infinity pools originated in France, but the very expensive vanishing edge swimming pools are usually found nowadays in gorgeous locations like exotic resorts or exclusive estates. Some of the most stunning infinity pools are situated on a cliff, or on a hillside next to green foliage, or stretching out as if to meet with the sea. The Reality of Repressed Memories In 1990, a landmark case went to trial in Redwood City, California. The defendant, George Franklin, Sr., 51 years old, stood trial for a murder that had occurred more than 20 years earlier. The victim, 8-year-old (Susan Kay Nason, was murdered on September 22, 1969). Franklin's daughter, Eileen, only 8 years old herself at the time of the murder, provided the major evidence against her father. What was unusual about the case is that Eileen's memory of witnessing the murder had been repressed for more than 20 years. Eileen's memory did not come back all at once. Eileen's memory report was believed by her therapist, by several members of her family, and by the San Mateo County district attorney's office, which chose to prosecute her father. Eileen's detailed and confident memory impressed a number of people. On the other hand, the clinical anecdotes and the loose theory used to explain them remain unconvincing to some psychotherapists and to many laboratory researchers. Popular Articles

Photorealistic Pictures Drawn With a BIC Pen EmailEmail At first sight they may look like some pretty sharp blue photographs, however all those pictures are actually hand drawn with a simple Bic ballpoint pen! Spanish artist Juan Francisco Casas uses up to four 14p ballpoint pens to create his incredibly photorealistic drawings, measuring up to 10ft (3 meters) high. The use of penballs makes Juan’s drawings even more original, which certainly has played a big role in his way to success, and his works are already a sell-out at exhibitions. His source of inspiration comes from his own photographs of nights out with his friends, so you can only imagine how wild his parties are, as half of his drawings include girls that forgot to put on their clothes. SARCASM IN RELATIONSHIPS Sarcasm – a mocking or ironic remark (American Heritage Dictionary) Irony – the use of words to convey the opposite of their literal meaning (American Heritage Dictionary) Sarcasm is a large component of social interaction and conversation. Sarcasm is an indirect form of speech intentionally used to produce a particular dramatic effect on the listener (McDonald, 1999, p. 486). Many people relate sarcasm to irony, but there is a big difference between the two. The subject of sarcasm is complex because many factors are involved. Negative sarcasm, where positively worded utterances convey negative attitudes, is used frequently in everyday language. Sarcastic remarks, like this, are usually accompanied by exaggeration, and intensifiers may be used on the words that state the opposite of how one truly feels. Sarcasm has been found to be “morphologically simpler and more flexible to use than direct forms” (McDonald, 1999, 487). People have different views of sarcasm in relation to humor.

Creepy, Crusty, Crumbling: Illegal Tour of Abandoned Six Flags New Orleans [75 Pics] Hurricane Katrina killed this clown. According to the photographer, “An abandoned Six Flags amusement park, someone spray painted ‘Six Flags 2012 coming soon’ on the wall above the downed head. But they were clownin.’ Six Flags will never rebuild here.” That’s sad, but much of New Orleans has not been restored to her former glory. Welcome to Zombie Land kids! Chained dreams of fun at Six Flags New Orleans, abandoned Jazzland – that’s what Six Flags opened as “Jazzland” in 2000. Some photographers can see past the lifeless amusement park’s decay and desolation, showing us that there is still a chance the place could be cheery and not cheerless. Like a Bad Dream. Just in case you don’t know the scoop on what Hurricane Katrina did to New Orleans and Six Flags, this photo is of New Orleans, LA, on Sept. 14, 2005. Once upon a time, Six Flags was filled with children’s laughter – but now it’s sad, silent, and surreal. No lines for dead rides. Watch out for that tree! No one wants a ride?
