How To Sell Ebooks
I just hit a milestone that is hard for me to grasp. As of January, I've sold over one million ebooks. The question I get asked more than any other is: How can I make my ebooks sell more copies? That's actually not the right question to ask. This business isn't about what you have to sell. But I've found you can improve your odds. I can't overemphasize how important a good cover is. 1. 2. 3. 4. There are other little tips that I recommend. Your artist should know what vectors are, and the rule of three, and the importance of the color wheel, and all the other tricks used to make a cover pop. If your sales are slow, consider getting a better cover. Once your cover gets a browser's attention, you need a good book description to reel them in. Make sure there is plenty of white space. This should be a no-brainer, but every book you publish should be well-written. You're going to have to experiment with this one. Some of my peers sell for more, some for less. I have box sets.

Amazon Launches Kindle Singles, Saves Long-Form Journalism | Epicenter
Amazon has launched Kindle Singles, one-off pieces of non-fiction and journalism which are typically much shorter than a novel, but longer than a magazine article. The Singles can be read on any of the many Kindle platforms, from the Kindle itself through smart-phones to Amazon’s desktop Kindle client, and they are priced accordingly, from $1 to $5. Long-form journalism has seen a surprising revival in recent years, with services like Instapaper and Read it Later allowing you to push longer articles off to mobile devices – like the iPad – to read later. Kindle singles will typically run to between 5,000 and 30,000 words, the no-man’s land between a magazine article and a short book. Lifted is also the product of The Atavist, a small new publishing house dedicated to long form journalism.
