A feature launched yesterday lets you hunt for potential prospects by uploading your address book from Microsoft Outlook and other desktop e-mail clients. As described in a Google+ post by Google technical staff member Paul Lindner, the feature works with several e-mail and address book programs beyond Outlook, including Outlook Express, Mozilla's Thunderbird, and Apple's Address Book. I tested the feature using Microsoft Outlook 2010, though because of the Ribbon interface, I wasn't able to follow Lindner's instructions exactly. In Outlook, click the File tab and select Options. Your next step is to import your contacts into Google+. Open your Google+ account and click the link to Upload Address Book. You should now see all your contacts appear among the list of potential candidates to invite or add to your Google+ circles.

Using a Writing Journal I received a tweet from a teacher wanting to have his students create writing journals and then submit them through Classroom. Here is a suggestion for how to create the writing journals. Create a template in Google Docs. In Google Drive create a template for the students to use as their Writing Journal. At the top of the document create a title. Title the writing journal something like “Writing Journal for: ” giving the student room to type their name in the title. Below the title, you will want to insert a Table of Contents. Choose from the most used tags It is really important to teach students about using headings. Type something like “Journal Entry #1” below the table of contents. Refresh Table of Contents The table of contents does not refresh automatically. The headings in the document that as set as Heading 1 in the toolbar will automatically appear in the table of contents. Press enter a few times after the “Journal Entry #1” header. Google Doc Tip: Find Revision History If you are using Google Docs, Sheets, Slides or Draw you will notice next to the menu options is a message letting you know that your document is saved in Google Drive. This message is a hyperlink that will launch revision history. Revision history lets you see who made what changes when.
