An Insider's Guide to Cruise Tipping Note: The following piece is an op-ed. The views expressed about tipping are those of the writer. For a comprehensive, line-by-line look at "official" tipping rules, check out our At Your Service: Cruise Line Tipping Policies. "A $12 per person, per day service charge will be automatically added to shipboard account." There is probably no topic more discussed onboard among novice cruisers and old salts alike than tipping: when to tip, how much to tip, whom to tip. First of all, it's important to understand that, technically speaking, no tip is ever required. Part of the difficulty with tipping is the English language. It is only somewhat recently that cruise lines began placing automatic service charges on shipboard accounts. The second reason for the service charge was the proliferation of alternative dining venues. Over the course of the week, they may encounter a number of servers in the process. How You Should Tip On some ships, envelopes for gratuities are left in cabins.
S'mores Cookies Recipe Posted on July 12, 2011 by Christina I made these S’mores cookies a few days ago – 32 of them to be precise. And guess what? They are ALL gone. S’mores cookies would be a great addition to a cookie table. Icebox Cake Recipes ~ Be Different...Act Normal Chocolate Chip Cookie Ice Box Cake from Martha Stewart I originally saw this image over on Babble. This beautifully delicious chocolate chip cookie ice box cake is from Martha Stewart, but I couldn't find it on Martha's site. I have never had an icebox cake, but it sounds like a fun thing to try in the summer when it is too hot to turn the oven on. Martha has a recipe for a lemon icebox cake that looks delicious too. You can check out more of Martha's icebox cakes HERE.
The Best Chocolate Sheet Cake. Ever. When I posted my recipe for "The Best Lasagna Ever" yesterday, I couldn’t have anticipated that I’d wind up hearing from Draco, a real-live Italian who lives near Bologna, Italy, where lasagna was first created. Nor could I have ever predicted I’d hear from MP, who lives in an Italian neighborhood and buys Parmiganno-Regianno by the bag, dang it. I might just go ahead at this point and clarify that yes, my lasagna is, in fact, "The Best Ever"…unless you live near Bologna, Italy or in an Italian neighborhood or anywhere near Mario Batali. Now…this cake? The Cast of Characters. First, melt 2 sticks regular (not unsalted) butter in a saucepan. When the butter is melted, add 4 heaping tablespoons cocoa powder… And mix thoroughly. With the heat still on, pour in the boiling water… And allow the mixture to bubble for 30 seconds. Turn off heat. In a large mixing bowl, combine 2 cups flour, 2 cups sugar… And 1/4 teaspoon salt. Stir together. Pour the hot butter/chocolate mixture over the top… Sigh.
Do It Yourself Photo Booth Style Wedding Save-the-Dates And Invitations | WedShare * Daily It’s very easy to create your very own photo booth styled save-the-date cards or wedding invitations. You don’t necessarily need to be in an actual photo booth to get the same results; all you need is a little creativity! Set up a backdrop with either sheets or curtains and have a tripod or some other support for your camera. Set the auto timer and snap away! If you prefer, have a friend take the photos for you, like Amber and Jimmy did. They picked the four pictures they liked best and gave them to another friend who put them in a photo booth format using Adobe Photoshop, and converted the photos to black and white–all except for the letters and the sign. If you are a little more computer savvy or know of a friend that is, and have access to Photoshop or similar software, you can pose for your pictures and pretend to be holding the letters instead of actually making them for your photos. Sarah & Jeffrey’s photo booth save-the-date cards were designed in Illustrator.
How To Make Perfect Brownies I’ve tried lots of brownie recipes: Boxes, scratch, frosted, plain, nuts, chips, fudge … Each of them has something to like, but depending on my mood I might want a change of pace. Not any more. My wife found this recipe, and it’s perfect. I’m done looking. Ingredients 1½ cups sugar ¾ cup flour ¾ cup cocoa powder (see note below) 3 eggs ¾ cup butter, melted ½ teaspoon salt (if using unsalted butter) ¾ cup semi-sweet chocolate chips (see note below) Directions A NOTE ON CHOCOLATE: You’ll notice the list of ingredients is very short. The assembly is about as easy as you can get. Do this by hand, until the dry ingredients are just incorporated into the wet, and stop. Stir in the chocolate chips. Line a 9×13 baking dish with parchment. Pour the batter and spread it out. Bake at 325° for 20-30 minutes. Very carefully lift the parchment out of the baking dish. Peel the edges and let cool for a few minutes before slicing. Pour yourself a glass of milk, and that’s it. Make these in two minutes flat

Malt. Heavenly moist chocolate cake. Thus was my Saturday. I knew this was going to be a time investment. The cakes themselves were perfect. Toasting the marshmallows was easy in the oven, but when I added them to the mixture of fluff, butter and icing sugar, things got quite a bit messy!
