Weird Book Room Welcome to AbeBooks' Weird Book Room - heralded by the New York Times, Canada's Globe and Mail, The Times of London, and The Guardian (UK) as the finest source of everything that's bizarre, odd and downright weird in books. Everyone's talking about it - author Neil Gaiman is even tweeting about it, posting a link and suggesting his followers: "Go to this link and gaze on the titles and be made happy. Trust me. It'll work". With new titles added periodically - including five recently-added, delightfully odd books about tractors - we have an excellent selection of crazy and strange titles for sale by our booksellers, about every oddball aspect of life you could possibly imagine (and a few things you couldn't). We invite you to not only revel in our collection of literary oddities but to also send us your suggestions.

Dead Comics Online Kaufman is most remembered for playing the inalienable Latka on the 1980s sitcom "Taxi." But he also did one of the first Elvis impersonations, spent too many years as an "intergender wrestler," and lipsynched the theme song to "Mighty Mouse" on the first "Saturday Night Live." Long before there was a Jerry Springer, Kaufman provoked fights on TV shows, including "Fridays" and "David Letterman." Slapstick comedian Jim Carrey portrays Kaufman in the upcoming "Man on the Moon," which is being directed by Milos Forman, who won an Oscar for "One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest," and produced by Danny DeVito, who worked with Kaufman in "Taxi" and Forman in "Cuckoo's Nest." In addition to Carrey as Kaufman, DeVito plays Kaufman's manager, George Shapiro, and Courtney Love plays his love interest, Lynne Margulies.

The Portico Quartet A.K.A. I Saw The Bloke From The Art Of Noise In Vision Express… Title of this post sounds like a bad mix tape but I did. Weird thing is each time I go to Oxford Street, twice this year, I seem to see Paul Morley. Anyway, so from there it was a short stop to go and pick up a CD I have been meaning to get for a while. Anything described as ‘the Penguin Cafe Orchestra meets jazz’ sounds good to me, and even though I am six months late on this one, the Portico Quartet’s (above) ‘Knee-Deep In The North Sea’ seemed like something to support. On listening, I am not sure I’d compare it to the PCO, but it does have a lovely little bonus track at the end, which lets be honest is something you don’t hear on jazz albums. Here it is…
