Blog Archive & Grandma's Stain Spray
Grandma’s stain spray is so simple to make. And saved my favorite shirt. Okay. One of my favorite shirts. It has penguins on it and I’m sure I’ll be wearing it for many years to come. I pretreated the EVOO stain with Shout spray, left it over night, then ran the shirt through the washer AND dryer. The penguin shirt came out of the dryer with the EVOO stain still there. Or so I thought. I pretreated with Grandma’s Stain Spray, let it rest overnight, and ran through the wash again. Would you like some wonderful stain spray for your laundry room? Fill an empty squirt bottle with equal parts Water AmmoniaJOY Dishwashing Liquid Spray on stain and gently rub in. I strongly recommend using JOY dishwashing liquid. I can’t guarantee the spray will take out every stain you come across, but it works just as well (if not better!) I hope you have the same stain-fighting success! WARNING: Whether cleaning your bathroom or doing laundry, NEVER use bleach and ammonia products at the same time.

Inspiration for Life's Celebrations Make-up Magnet Board - StumbleUpon We all know with craft blogs that original ideas are often hard to come by, we find ideas we love and make them our own but we didn't come up with the idea ourselves. I feel like I've finally done something original here and I'm excited about it. I'll show you the finished product and then explain. Behold my Make-up Magnet Board. I have a friend who is beautiful and stylish and has always loved make-up but recently took a course that intensified her love. The basket was a mess and I was overwhelmed with all my choices never knowing what to use, digging through to see what I had and find what I wanted was a pain. I painted it (The hard way, with a brush instead of spray paint. I went to the hardware store and picked up some metal and had them cut it to fit inside my frame. Here comes the brilliant part though. Here's the stash of eye shadows we're talking about (I've even added a couple since this picture). Next I wanted a place to store my brushes and liners though.

DIY Bookshelves...made with Books! You gotta love Real Simple for all of their easy, breezy DIY projects and organization tips! All you need to complete this clever little project are some old books (pretty ones are a plus!), some hardware and a drill. I love the colorful books they used and all of the interesting "found" objects neatly displayed. In case anyone would like to take a stab at this project, I've included the instructions below. Find some cloth or leather-bound books with beautiful spines that will work well together as a grouping. Buy two sets of brackets, using one set for below the books and a single bracket for above. Slide each book between the top and bottom brackets before placing light-weight objects on it. Voila!

Homemade Febreze-Go Green by staying Cheap! I've seen this on the internet a few times, so I thought that I would bring it to the eyes of you fantastic readers at instructables. Febreze- We all use it (I hope some of us do) to clean what we have dirtied, make that which is foul smell better, and generally add a hint of fragrance to our garments. In this short but sweet instructable, I'll show you how to make your own Homemade Febreze with things you should already have in your home. This is not my original idea. I see it on the internet a lot, but since it was not on instructables, I thought I'd share it with you here. The motive behind making your own Febreze type smell good cleaners is that the cost of making it yourself is lower than the cost of most cleaners today. UPDATE: I just found this instructable by Bigbadjohn81 on how to make Homemade Fabric Refresher.

Inspired Entertaining: DIY Chalkboard Wine Glasses - StumbleUpon Last month I got an email from one of those "deal of the day" websites featuring a very cute set of wine glasses with chalkboard stems from a company called Chalkboard China. I've seen chalkboard glasses before, and always thought them to be a fun and chic way for guests to keep track of their glass throughout the night so you don't end up with mixed-up glasses or dozens of half-full glasses left around the house. But all the ones I've seen in stores feature a strip of chalkboard paint across the bowl of the glass, which I've always felt looks awkward and takes away from the beauty of the wine or beverage in the glass. What I like about this version is that the writing part is at the bottom on the stem and foot of the glass, so it doesn't compete with the beverage. I also like that the simple black foot on the glass is in itself an elegant design element, and would work just as well with no writing on it. So I figured, "I can totally make that myself!" Materials 1. 2. 3. Method Step 1.

Soap Making Instructions | Soap Making Recipes and Tutorials | Teach Soap The Finger Test to Check the Doneness of Meat Print Photography Credit: Elise Bauer There are two basic methods to test for how done your meat is while you are cooking it—use a meat thermometer, or press on the meat with your fingertips. The problem with the meat thermometer approach is that when you poke a hole into the meat with a thermometer, it can let juices escape, juices that you would rather have stay in the meat. My mother has been trying to get me to test meat with my fingertips for years, and for years, being somewhat of a scaredy cat (won’t it burn my fingers?) Then my friend David showed me up. Now the point of this story is not to embarrass David (though that would be fun, if it were even possible) but to encourage you, if like me, you’ve been shying away from trying this approach. This is one of those things that gets easier with practice. MethodHide Photos Open the palm of your hand. Now gently press the tip of your pinky and your thumb together. Press the tip of your ring finger and your thumb together. Hello!

Make It and Love It: Satin Flower Headbands Satin Flower Headbands Remember this post about the pettiskirt? Well, many of you asked about the headband……. I have posted about the satin flowers before…….hmmmm, maybe a year or so ago, but didn’t give a step-by-step and didn’t show it on a headband. But since many have requested the headband version, here it is: Such a fun and vibrant accessory. Many color combos are at your fingertips. The headbands work especially well to keep hair out of the face, while your little one peeps on the neighbors. And how can you resist all those layers of petals… Nice and full and perfectly sweet. Ready to make your own? First, begin by cutting about 6 circles of satin material for each flower. I made each circle gradually smaller, making sure they fit on top of the circle just larger than it, and didn’t worry one bit about making it a perfect circle. Then I used a lighter and slightly melted the edges of each flower, This also caused the edges to curl up a bit. Then I dumped off the excess beads.
