It's a demo for Geometrize, my open source desktop app designed for recreating images as geometric primitives. Given an image to recreate, Geometrize generates hundreds of random shapes, and repeatedly mutates these as part of a hillclimbing optimization approach. Internally, this demo uses a web worker so the webpage remains responsive while the geometrization algorithm ranks thousands of these shapes behind the scenes, only picking the best-fitting shapes for use in the final image. The "Run/Pause" button starts or stops the geometrization process, the "Step" button adds one primitive to the image when pressed, the "Open Image" button lets you select your own images, the "Random Image" button picks a random preset image, and the "Reset" button clears all of the current shapes, restarting the geometrization from scratch. Additional controls are accessed by clicking on the "Settings" section.

Point cloud Download Meshlab ( or use some other software to manage 3D point clouds. Import your *.asc file, simple by drag and drop method. Uncheck triangulation and hit OK. Isn't it lovely? Edit: 4. december 2012: I was pretty sure i've attached output file to this step. Patterns of Visual Math -Secret Inner Life of Mirrored Spheres: Wada Basins Reflective Spheres of Infinity: Wada Basin Fractals (In physical reality and digital visualization) Perhaps the Best Example of a very rich and interesting natural fractal is the infinite series of inter-reflections when mirrored spheres (such as christmas ornaments) are packed together. It may also illuminate properties of other processes because the fractal is produced by perfect spheres arranged into the most economical packing arrangement used by nature and most waves are actually spherical. Look in the middle and we see a beautiful fractal vortex! Julie Heffernan from Julie Heffernan’s Constructions of Self Julie Heffernan creates sensuous figurative painting, like co-Yale MFAS, John Currin and Linda Yuskavage, but her luminous oils are patently unique among them and most working artists today. A Victorian impetus to conjoin, edging toward pastiche, creates artfully staged Surrealist environments. They avoid the mawkish or macabre by virtue of an evocative 17th century Baroque styling and the dignity with which she handles her primary subject, herself. Good construction is essential to the success of such works, built of disparate things suggesting disparate philosophies and ages. Yet the finished product is seamless, making it easy for the viewer to willfully suspend disbelief in the face of rampant artifice. a Draw Anywhere - easy online diagramming, flow chart The real 3D Mandlebulb (images & vid), page 1 Being a web/graphics designer I come across a lot of crazy designs created by math. We have fractal art which is amazing: Then we have the Mandlebot/Mandlebulb which is an entire 3-dimensional "world" created from math. TIMESTAMP 08/11/2009. The original Mandelbrot is an amazing object that has captured the public's imagination for 30 years with its cascading patterns and hypnotically colourful detail. It's known as a 'fractal' - a type of shape that yields (sometimes elaborate) detail forever, no matter how far you 'zoom' into it (think of the trunk of a tree sprouting branches, which in turn split off into smaller branches, which themselves yield twigs etc.).It's found by following a relatively simple math formula. All of the images below come from the above object. An awesome video inside the Mandlebulb: Link:www.skytopia.com... Leader Following steering behavior - Aurora In this demonstration a group of ten vehicles exhibit leader following behavior. Click with your mouse anywhere in the yellow window to toggle between two modes. In one case, they are colored green and all follow the single gray leader. In the other case they are colored cyan and follow one another, forming a "single file" procession, much like a family of ducklings following their mother. A single gray leader vehicle employs an unrelated ad hoc behavior combining seeking randomly selected locations, wandering, and selecting between fast and slow movement. The leader following behavior combines separation (a desire to avoid crowding) and arrival (a desire to move towards a point, slowing as it draws near). In this diagram, a vehicle's velocity vector is shown in magenta, and its steering force vector in blue. FromSteering Behaviors for Autonomous Characters
