100 Very Cool Facts About The Human Body - Global One TV - StumbleUpon The Brain The human brain is the most complex and least understood part of the human anatomy. There may be a lot we don’t know, but here are a few interesting facts that we’ve got covered. Nerve impulses to and from the brain travel as fast as 170 miles per hour. Hair and Nails While they’re not a living part of your body, most people spend a good amount of time caring for their hair and nails. Facial hair grows faster than any other hair on the body. Internal Organs Though we may not give them much thought unless they’re bothering us, our internal organs are what allow us to go on eating, breathing and walking around. The largest internal organ is the small intestine. Bodily Functions We may not always like to talk about them, but everyone has to deal with bodily functions on a daily basis. Sneezes regularly exceed 100 mph. Sex and Reproduction As taboo as it may be in some places, sex is an important part of human life as a facet of relationships and the means to reproduce. Senses

How to take a broke-ass road trip There’s a saying that goes, ‘The coldest winter I ever spent was a summer in San Francisco’. It’s credited to Mark Twain, but that’s a lie; nobody really knows who said it. I wish I had. You know what else I wish I had? A friggin’ car! 1. (I know I just complained about not having a car, but I’m actually tied to my desk right now, so just look at my car reference before as a metaphor for ‘the freedom to not be at my damn desk’.) 2. If you don’t have wheels but aren’t too keen on riding with random strangers, you can always rent a car. 3. Still on the car-less theme, if you use Zipcar or one of the countless smaller local versions of car sharing, you can take a vehicle for multiple days at a time. 4. Don’t wanna spend too much loot on food while traveling? 5. You read Lonely Planet, so you know the drill, but just in case you don’t, I’ll break it down for you. 6. If you wanna save money on a road trip, don’t go to Disneyland, or any other theme park for that matter. 7. 8.

The 8 Splendid Truths of Happiness In my study of happiness, I’ve labored to identify its fundamental principles. Because I get a tremendous kick out of the numbered lists that pop up throughout Buddhism (the Triple Refuge, the Noble Eightfold Path, the Four Noble Truths, the eight auspicious symbols), I decided to dub these fundamental principles as my Eight Splendid Truths. Each one of these truths sounds fairly obvious and straightforward, but each was the product of tremendous thought. Here they are. First Splendid Truth To be happier, you have to think about feeling good, feeling bad, and feeling right, in an atmosphere of growth. Second Splendid Truth One of the best ways to make yourself happy is to make other people happy; One of the best ways to make other people happy is to be happy yourself. Third Splendid Truth The days are long, but the years are short. Fourth Splendid Truth You’re not happy unless you think you’re happy. [Many argue the opposite case. Fifth Splendid Truth Sixth Splendid Truth Seventh Splendid Truth

Quantum Contemplation “I have said, Ye are gods; and all of you are children of the most High.” This is a long, and at times wordy post… but I am working towards a point, and I hope you will endure until that point is made! There is a great deal of literature out there that compares the findings of contemporary physics with that of non-dualistic philosophy, particularly with the contemplative traditions of the world’s religions. Many times these texts seem intent on establishing the case that science is validating the claims of religion. Almost as if contemplative spirituality is validated because science said so. I do not find this sort of comparison to be of any real value. Quantum Physics foundation was discovered by Werner Heisenberg. The Uncertainty Principle also bridges the art of physics with that of the contemplative traditions. Contemplatives are describing the human condition in its simplest form. With the advent of the Uncertainty Principle, the line between observer and observed became blurred.

The 10 Most Ridiculously Awesome Geeky Computer Pranks Everybody loves a good prank… unless you are the one on the receiving end of the fun. It’s time to hone your pranking skills, not just to make sure you are the best, but so you can avoid being pranked by others. Yeah, sure, we could go with the old standards, like a blue screen of death screensaver or something like that, but it’s time to use our geek skills and come up with something better. Disclaimer: Get a sense of humor. Make the Space Key Write the Word SPACE Here’s a clever prank for you: Make the victim’s computer actually type the word “SPACE” every time they hit the space bar. Just create a new AutoHotkey script and drop in the following two lines of code—the first one is to hide the tray icon, and the second sets up the hotkey for replacing the text. #NoTrayIcon *Space::Send,SPACE You’ll probably want to right-click on the script and compile it to an executable before putting it on their computer. Pretend to Install Linux on a Windows User’s PC with a Live CD That’s it. Bonus?
