Feminine Cloth Pad Tutorial Each February, our church participates in a short-term mission trip to Haiti with Mission Possible. The purpose of this outreach is to share the love of God and help the poor through education. One area of the outreach includes educating girls about their menstrual cycles and proper body care. Girls are provided Feminine Hygiene kits that contain supplies to use during their monthly cycle. This simple kit will not only improve her health, but will also enable her to remain in school 45 more days per year where she can continue to learn. Education is the key to providing hope. Along with basic hygiene information, each kit contains 2 bars of soap, 3 pair of underwear, 100 ibubrofen tablets, 5 safety pins, and 10 cloth sanitary pads. How you can help Last year 5,000 sanitary pads were donated for this project, and the hope is to expand the outreach to more girls in the future. The following tutorial was written to assist those who want to join our efforts. Feminine Cloth Pad Tutorial
The Colette Patterns Pants Fitting Cheatsheet Fitting pants is a bit tricky, let’s face it. There are a lot of differences among women in the areas between waist and ankles. You’ve got hips and waists of different sizes, butts of various shapes, legs of all different lengths, thighs that bulge in different ways, calves that may or may not be muscular. With all these factors, no wonder pants fitting seems so mystifying. I wanted to find a way to distill most of the pants adjustments you might need down into an easy to scan format. Cloth pads Apparently the average woman will use around 17,000 pads or tampons in her lifetime, the majority of which are flushed down the toilet, a terrible though huh? Just imagine the waste they produce, damage they cause and the money they cost us.After having my second child i breastfed until she was around 15 months old therefore i didn't menstruate, it was great. Soon after i weaned her from the boob my cycle returned, ugh, i started using tampons again and i hate them. So, i have stared to make my own cloth pads and am looking into ordering a menstrual cup.I have put together a step by step of how i make my own cloth pads, i will add the pattern to the sidebar in the next few days. Mama Cloth Panty Liner Tutorial and Pattern I finally made the change to mama cloth! I will never go back again to 'sposies'. The mama cloth panty liners are so soft, comfortable and breathable. Really it doesn't feel like I'm wearing anything but underwear! I dare you just to make one to try out and see what you think. Did you know that mama cloth is so much healthier for you? I looked at several patterns, but ended up designing my own (I'm picky about size ;-). I used all scraps I had on hand for my panty liners. You will need a cotton print for the 'wrapper' part of the liner, a cotton inner (I used an old t-shirt), a cotton topper (I used scrap thin white broadcloth) and of course your pattern. Cut 2 of the print wrapper, 1 of the cotton inner and 1 of the cotton topper. Pin right sides together of the print wrapper and then the inner and outer layers. Sew both sets together while leaving an opening to turn right side out. Tuck in raw edges of the opening on the print wrapper and then top stitch around the wrapper.

Frugal Kiwi — Live Green. Spend Less. Homemade Cloth Pads – Free Cloth Pads Pattern – Mama Cloth Stop! I see you there trying to run away from this post! Before you go in terror at least hear me out. About a year ago I first heard about cloth pads. My first reaction was, YUCK! Why would you want to have to deal with such a thing? Cloth pads(or at least the ones you should be buying!) Those reasons were too good for me not to give it a try. But then I got really brave and decided it was time to make my own. Supplies you need: Flannel (not very much, at least ¼ yard in 2 colors will make you a couple pads)Sewing machineThreadMeasuring TapeScissorsCloth Pad Liner Pattern First you will need to trace around your pattern on the fabric. Cut out two of each of the patterns. Turn the fabric inside out and sew the liner around the edges. Snip a hole in one side of both the wings and the pad. Use this to turn the fabric right side out. Make sure to put the sides with the holes together so you won’t be able to see them in the finished pad. Sew the pad onto the wings. That’s all there is to it!
Design*Sponge » Blog Archive » sewing 101: making a pouf Add a burst of color to your room with this crafty pouf! At 17” wide and 10” deep, it’s large enough to serve as floor seating or a foot stool. (And if you have pets, I have a feeling they may want to make this their new favorite spot!) This project is a little challenging to sew, but it’s not too difficult, so if you’re comfortable with the basics of sewing, give it a try. You can make a colorwheel effect with a range of solid colors, or choose a variety of patterned fabrics for a louder patchwork effect. I love the idea of making a set of these poufs in a range of sizes, for a sculptural stack of cushions that will become a room element in their own right.
