iPad deployment: First school iPad deployment with iOS 5 step by step ***Update: Please check out my most recent step by step iPad deployment strategy at Recently I have been doing a lot of research on what the workflow to deploy a number of iPads at a school would look like. I discovered there are lots of resources on the internet that focus on how they will be used in the classrooms, but there was not much that I was able to find on the best practices in the steps taken to prepare them for use. Based on some research, I put down on paper an order of steps that I thought made sense and worked on a small deployment of about 40 iPads. Step 1. Using these new accounts we created an iTunes account for the iPad admin using a school credit card for purchases, and 30 iTunes accounts using the 30 device based email addresses. iPad Mini Education Sales Oct. 22 (Bloomberg) -- Julie Garcia handed Apple Inc. iPads to students in her seventh-grade pre-algebra class on a recent morning before showing the pupils how to use the tablet to graph data, hunt for correlations and record how-to videos. A math instructor at Innovation Middle School, Garcia is one of the first to use some of the more than 25,000 iPads the San Diego Unified School District bought from Apple this year. “It’s the cool factor,” Garcia said as she looks over the room of students tapping energetically on tablets. Now schools, as well as consumers, are about to get another big price break: The smaller iPad may cost as little as $249, according to Barclays Plc. iPad Shift School Sales “They were cost prohibitive,” Klein said. With The iPad Mini On Its Way, It’s Time To Say Farewell To The iPad 2 [Report The iPad 2 was the first iPad to bring us front- and rear-facing cameras. When Apple unveiled the third-generation iPad earlier this year, it reduced the price of the iPad 2 to just $399 in an effort to provide fans with a more affordable option, and to stave off the competition from cheaper Android slates as much as it could. But with the iPad mini set to make its debut tomorrow, will there still be a need for the iPad 2? One analyst thinks not.Rob Cihra of Evercore Partners believes Apple will “phase out” the iPad 2 following the iPad mini’s debut, ensuring ”clearer product tiers.” The move makes a lot of sense. And its demise is hardly likely to impact Apple’s sales. Add 49 million iPhone sales to that, and Cihra expects Apple to announce $56.1 billion in revenue for the December quarter.
