A 1 way speaker uses 1 speaker cone to reproduce all the sound from the low bass, the midrange and the high treble i.e. all the frequencies in the sound. That means this speaker will struggle to reproduce the full bandwidth of the music compared to it's original form. A 2 way unit splits the bandwidths into high and low and has 2 speaker cones, one bigger speaker one to handle the low frequency sounds and a much smaller one to handle the high frequencies. This will be better as it shares the load between two speakers, that are tuned to reproduce each frequency group. A 3 way unit would be even better. 2) you should not parallel or series connect the speakers unless the instructions tell you you can.
