We’re willing to let that slide in this particular instance because Inside Line Equipment has truly created what just might be the ultimate photographer’s bag. If you’re not driving to shoots (almost impossible if you live in a bustling metropolis like New York or Chicago) or taking a cab (a pricey option to say the least), you’re riding a bike, walking or taking public transportation. All of these options don’t afford you the luxury of trunk space and put very strenuous demands on your back and hands.

5 Tips for Improving Product Photos & Video on Your Ecommerce Site This post originally appeared on the American Express OPEN Forum, where Mashable regularly contributes articles about leveraging social media and technology in small business. In product-focused small businesses, photography plays a vital role in both sales and marketing. The products or services that a site posts to its site must not only be visually appealing, but also relatable. Basic photographic techniques can ensure that an otherwise worthy product isn't overlooked. Furthermore, capturing the details of a product, like food or fabric, for example, can mean the difference for a sale. In terms of marketing, photos and videos can enhance user experience and set the tone for a business. 1. Portable Photo Studio [DIY] The DIY $30 Rolling Camera Bag I have been on the look out for an affordable rolling camera bag for some time. Thinktank, Lowepro, and Pelican all have great products, but when it comes down to it I really don’t want to drop $300+ on a bag. What is so special about these “specialized” camera bags anyway? After looking at my normal carry-on bag, I was determined to find a cheap alternative. While I was browsing, these Calumet inserts for rolling bags popped up. I quickly grabbed a tape measure and did some checking on my current bag. The next day I skipped out early on the day job and dropped by Calumet photo to buy the insert. After I got it home, the situation only got better. I have to say this is one of the best camera mods / DIY projects I have found. Disadvantages: -I don’t look as cool without a name brand on my bag -If I do need to travel, I am short a carry on -Not as protective as a Pelican case, but a hell of a lot lighter What do you think of my new DIY, affordable case? Sunrise, sunset: city photos at the golden hour – Lonely Planet blog In travel photography, light can either be your best friend or a horribly mismatched travel companion. The way the light enters and consumes the scene can either enhance or diminish the destination’s beauty. The best travel photographers know how to spot and utilize the ‘right light’, making their photos leap off the page and irresistible to fellow travelers. The light at the very beginning and end of each day – the so-called ‘golden hour’ – is the most popular among photographers, and works particularly well with city photos. Take a look at following 15 dusk and dawn photos of cities around the world that have been submitted to the Capture the City photo competition so far that really showcase this magical time of day.
