Getting to that point is sometimes the hardest challenge in the field of web design. Luckily enough for us and our fellow design community there are tools available to assist in completing the job quicker and more efficiently. Below, I have outlined a list of tools I recommend for any web designer. Be sure to bookmark these pages so you can utilize them to your advantage like I have! Best practices for navigation on the mobile web The way people access information online is evolving. Google reports that by next year (2013) more than half of website visits will come from mobile devices rather than desktops or laptops. Not only is the medium of accessing the web changing, the needs of most mobile users going online with their smartphone or handheld device is changing as well; becoming more focused and task oriented. Today’s smartphone owners use their phones to perform specific tasks such as checking locations of destinations, public transit schedules, and bank balances. While internet browsing on handheld devices does occur (especially when standing in really long lines or waiting for a bus) many people prefer to surf the web from the comfort of their home or office.

Charles and Ray Eames were the design power couple of the 20th century. Their Eames Lounge chair for Herman Miller, shown below, is one of the most lusted-after furniture designs in the world, and is only the best known example of their vast output. Eames Lounge Chair For over 35 years, Charles and Ray lived as husband and wife, but also as partners in a design practice that put forth such remarkably varied fruits as the Eames Case Study House, the film Powers of Ten, and the exhibition Mathematica, still on view today at the Boston Museum of Science.

Web Design For Dummies Cheat Sheet Cheat Sheet Web design can be technically demanding, but don't underestimate the importance of the visual aspects. How your Web pages look — whether you're presenting pure information or adding navigation tools — has a great influence on how long visitors stay on your Web pages. ManvsMachine 4creative appointed ManvsMachine to create a cohesive on & off air package for new channel 4seven, that would sit comfortably as part of the Channel4 family. ManvsMachine worked alongside 4creative to create an on-screen identity which uses a distinctive corner wrap concept across the package. This corner approach creates a visual signature style akin to the Channel4 coming together of the logo, where the viewer is always travelling around a corner from left to right. This holds all the elements together creating a set of idents which result in a logic defying scene, reminiscent of M.C Escher. These idents feature a custom camera technique created by ManvsMachine where regular scenes are given an irregular treatment. It was vital the set retained the Channel4 feeling of everyday locations whilst being very much its own channel.
