California SSA Announces Update on AB 2540 Newport Beach, CA, June 09, 2012 --(PR.com)-- The California Self Storage Association (CSSA) has announced that Assembly Bill 2540 is no longer a threat for self-storage operators. The CSSA and the national Self-Storage Association (SSA) had joined forces to fight the bill, which proposed a 7.5 percent excise tax that would be applied to storage use or consumption in the state effective January 1, 2013. “We are grateful to the SSA for partnering with us to fight this proposed legislation and are happy to report that the bill is no longer a threat to our industry,” says Erin King, CSSA Executive Director. “The general issue of the proposed sales tax is not going away, but at least for this year, it is dead.” The proposed bill, the result of a bi-partisan group in the California legislature that has been working on an expansion of sales tax in the state to include services, would have required a two-thirds vote in both houses.

Is it Winter? The weather person says that it is now winter. Is he sure? I guess it is wrong to pick on the weatherman. Have you ever noticed that when they say it might rain, you might be wise to stock up groceries, and get the plans out for your own Ark. Today they mentioned that there would be no more rain today. We have small, medium and those big boxes, for your things. When a person comes in to buy boxes, I will suggest to them that if they are buying large boxes they should use them to store things are not that heavy, like pillows, clothing and items that don’t really weigh that much. Of course we have tape to close all these boxes. There are also chair covers, bed covers and plastic sheeting to cover furniture and anything else you might think of. If your basement is sometime damp when it rains, we have found that a product we sell works very well, absorbing moisture and eliminating musty odors. So feel free and stop at your local Storage Station when you need help with your moving needs.

List of Free Press Release Distribution Last edited on June 4, 2008. As promised, here is a big list of free press release distribution sites (something I’m very commonly asked for by clients in the webmaster / online business world). Disclaimer: I in no way advocate the mass-submitting of press releases using automatic submission tools, or even manually submitting to large numbers of free press release distribution sites on this list or not. Frankly, my thoughts are this: If you spend the time to do that, you’re an idiot. If you spend the money to have someone else do that, you’re an idiot. If you think press releases are about nothing but quick backlinks on PR sites (where they get buried to the archives within a day) and the scraper sites that pick up the feeds, you’re twice the idiot of the other groups. If you’d like to distribute your press releases for free in a way that’s actually effective: A) make sure you have something newsworthy to say, Also, I haven’t submitted press releases to each of these sites. 10inShare

Living on the Cheap in Philadelphia Philadelphia is on the move. A decade ago the City of Brotherly Love was anything but, with one of the highest crime rates in the world and a rotting, neglected core. But today Philadelphia is staging its own revival, seemingly intent upon reclaiming its former glory. Is it still possible to enjoy this re-energized city without sapping out the vital forces of one’s own wallet? Philadelphia offers up its own unique mix of high- and not-so-highbrow pleasures. On Sundays make like Rocky up the steps of the Philadelphia Museum of Art for pay-what-you-want admission (but please, don’t actually mount the staircase and dance about in imitation of the Italian Stallion–such cliches are for tourists and steroid-addled actors only). Art of the now variety is on display at First Fridays, where on the first Friday of every month from around 5 to 9pm forty art galleries fill the streets from First to Third and Market to Vine. If you’ve had your fill of art, get yourself to Fairmount Park.
