Accessories Re-Fire by Francesco Faccin Francesco Faccin designed this project to provide an answer to the provocative message sent to him from the Tempo Italiano platform. It invited its participants to reflect on design past and present, on the meaning of production today, on a return to the origins of the basic needs and actions within a system of sustainable values. Re-Fire is a kit for manually lighting a fire; it was inspired by the systems used by primitive Man. Concordia University Chicago - Art Lessons Welcome to Concordia University Chicago’s link to Artists and Their Art: Sharing Visual Stories, a tool to promote visual literacy through artwork. Recognizing visual cues in a work of art as well as being aware of the times and conditions in which an artist lived enables students to better interpret its imagery, draw conclusions about its effectiveness, and speak critically about the art. Art education research indicates students enjoy a richer art experience and improved visual comprehension when the following four disciplines are included in the art experience: Art History (the study of past artists), Art Aesthetics (response to art), Art Criticism (discussion of art using art vocabulary), and Art Production (hands-on making of art). Artists and Their Art: Sharing Visual Stories focuses mainly on art history by providing a biographical sketch of the artist, an image of one of the artist’s specific works and details about that work.
Social inclusion How can we open up the circle of decision-makers to include regular citizens? How can governments better respond to citizen’s concerns? How can people and decision-makers cooperate for a better future in the coming decade? Daily Icon - Part 3 Teluria Candelabra by Note Design Studio for KLONG An original Tellurion is a mechanical representation of the Earth-Moon-Sun system that reproduces the relative movement of the three bodies. The model visualizes the causes of night and day, solar and lunar eclipses and the phases of the Moon. The thing that intrigued us with the mechanical contraption and what we wanted to put emphasis on in our candelabra was the beautiful way the light was reflected between the spherical bodies. The five arms of the Telluria candelabra can be rotated into different positions and the twelve orbs will amplify the flames and the surrounding space. That's why, when you find vintage posters in flea markets, you find prices that might suggest they were just printed.
Science Science[nb 1]:58 is a systematic enterprise that builds and organizes knowledge in the form of testable explanations and predictions about the universe.[nb 2] Contemporary science is typically subdivided into the natural sciences, which study the material universe; the social sciences, which study people and societies; and the formal sciences, which study logic and mathematics. The formal sciences are often excluded as they do not depend on empirical observations. Disciplines which use science, like engineering and medicine, may also be considered to be applied sciences. From classical antiquity through the 19th century, science as a type of knowledge was more closely linked to philosophy than it is now, and in the Western world the term "natural philosophy" once encompassed fields of study that are today associated with science, such as astronomy, medicine, and physics.
